How to Root LG G2 on Android 4.4.2 and install the modified Recovery

It has been some time since I made a complete and extensive tutorial on how to downgrade the LG G2 to Android 4.2.2. From there, you can Root the terminal and install the modified Recovery that allows us to create our backup copies of the entire system, or even flash modified Roms. Well, all this mess is no longer necessary to be able to Root the LG G2 on Android 4.4.2 and install the modified Recovery. We can get all this now directly in Kit Kat, Android 4.4.2, and without even having a personal computer, well, this is not entirely true since to download one of the necessary APKs if we are going to I need to use a personal computer since from the web browsers for Android, at least from the ones I have tried it, I have not been able to download the Towelrot APK which is the one that will not facilitate the Rooting the LG G2.

We owe all this to developers of the stature of GeoHot, developer of the root for the LG G2 on Android 4.4.2 and who in his day became known for Jailbreak the iPhone or be the first to hack the Play Station 3. On the side of the APK that will directly install the modified Recovery TWRP, we have to thank Cloudyfa, an old acquaintance of the scene and Android development for LG, with Roms as spectacular as the Cloudy G3, which is undoubtedly one of the best ROMs for the LG G2.

How to Root LG G2 on Android 4.4.2 and install the modified Recovery

As you see in the video in the header of this article or tutorial, the thing is as easy as downloading the two APKs that I indicate in the video and run the GeoHot app first, Towelroot that will Root the LG G2, an essential condition for the second APK called AutoREC and what is it going to do for us install the modified Recovery on our LG G2, specifically the TWRP from which we can already flash cooked ROMs, make backup copies of our entire system, or even change the recovery for the one we like the most.

I wanted to have told you something else here in the letter that accompanies the video tutorial on how to Root the LG G2 on Android 4.4.2 and install the modified RecoveryAlthough as you can see, it is so simple to get that with you seeing the attached video you will have more than enough to understand the installation process of both apk, the order of execution of the same, as well as the necessary download of the superSU and the update of the same binaries.

android-root

Without a doubt a breakthrough and one of the easiest ways I've ever seen to get Root and Recovery on an Android terminal. All this thanks to great geniuses like GeoHot or Cloudyfa.

Hello Francisco. When I opened my Mail, I was filled with enthusiasm, because I said to myself: "Ah, I will finally have my LG G2, D806 (Argentina), with the modified Recovery installed." I already managed to root it. But it is ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE for me (to date), to find a method to install it in Modified Recovery. I mean, I'm "halfway there." My device is running Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat, which I got via OTA, that is, an official update. I lost my previous Root, but thanks to CoperFix, an extraordinary developer who sent me a couple of files via Twitter, I managed to recover the roots ..., but NOT like this, the Recovery. I remind you that it is me, who asked you if the D806 (Argentina), and the D802 (Internac), are THE SAME ..., and you decided to find out. Well, today's post did not solve the problem either, since the great AuroRec, I ALREADY tried it ..., but it does NOT have compatibility with the D806. Well I wanted to tell you this ... and say hello. I am waiting for you to solve the problem of my LG G2 D806. A big hug from the American-European brotherhood…!

    thanks!

Good morning, beautiful people of ANDROIDSIS. Well, last night I was just working on my LG G2, D806 (Argentina). And I must tell you that, once again, I HAVE FAILED, in my attempt, to install the Modified Recovery, which you advise here. When I went to download the Auto-Rec, for the D806 model, I found that it is not listed (it goes up to the D805, which is sold in Brazil; in Peru, there is the D804). I tried the D802 one, and it did NOT work..., then I tried the D805 one (since according to experts, they are very similar), and it doesn't work either. The APK is installed, but when "opening", it DOES NOT even "ask" you for the famous ALLOW, from SuperSu. It directly DENIES you PERMISSION, and an ERROR window appears. Going global, then, I continue with my LG G2, Root, but without the Modified Recovery. Could it be that for this variant of the famous LG device, they have NOT yet developed a way to install Recovery on Android 4.4.2? Well, I am NOT bothering you anymore..., and I will continue waiting until the solution reaches your hands, which in fact I take for granted, they will send it to me. Once again, my recognition of your work..., and my cordial greetings, to all...!!!

Hello, I followed your method to root my cell phone lg g2 mini and it got rooted but when I installed the modified recovery I gave it reboot and it turned off and it does not turn on, my mobile does not work, please help

I rotated my cell phone and now it does not turn on !!! I connect it to the charger and nothing !! please help

Look, I had the same problem. What I did was connect it to my PC, in Downloader mode, and click on "Firmware Recovery", as if an update had been installed incorrectly. It was downloaded by LG's PC Tool Software, and everyone worked great. Today I have roots in my LG G2 D806, but nowhere do I find a Modified Recovery, compatible with this variant of the LG G2. If this works for you, I will be satisfied. Greetings…!

I want to add Newry, that I do NOT have a cooked ROM installed, but 4.4.2, which I got, through an official update, which is the only way that the LG Software recognizes the device. Therefore, I was able to give you that solution; which does NOT happen, if your mobile is running a ROM, which is not Official. I just wanted to add that to my previous comment. Greetings…!

towelroot not working on my lg g2 mini D625 could someone help me to be able to root

  8.   Joe said

    Jose Orlando Sarmiento:
Use D802_autorec.apk (beware! Not the D802T)

Note that after doing so, the knock knock stops working. But now in the link they say how to repair it

The root made it perfect and the modified recovery mounted it without any problem…. now when I exit the recovery after exiting the LG logo does not start anything, and the blue and green LEDs are flashing ... What should I do in this case?

    1.    Joe said

Richie make sure to wipe cache from recovery. If it doesn't work, try a wipe data, but it erases all your data.

      1.    worldiego said

Hi Joe, the same thing happened to me but as I am something new in this I do not understand well what you mean, I have tried to enter the recovery but it does not let me do that either = (

        1.    Richie gonzales said

Like Worldiego, I am a neophyte in this, and the Recovery does not boot, only the LEDs flashing.

          1.    Joe said

Here is a video that can help you if you can not enter the recovery

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlO7Ajbykdk

        2.    Joe said

worldiego and Richie. To enter the recovery, with the cell turned off, hold down volume + power and release power when the logo appears, keep the vol. You will get a factory reset poster, you ignore it and give it ok with the power key and you enter the recovery there you look for the wipes. (There are several videos on youtube if you have any doubts).
If they can't get into the recovery, something may have gone wrong during the recovery flashing. If this is the case, look for the google "How to unbrick LG G2" there are also several posts where they explain it. (It is a slightly longer procedure to explain it here)

Hello Joe. I followed your advice, and everything was great. I have my terminal, rooted, with TWRP installed and fully functional. And all thanks to your comment. I remain to the reciprocal, if you need something, and I can help you. Best regards, from Argentina… !!!

I'm glad José. Now that you have recovery, try the liquidsmooth rom with android lollipop 5.0.1. It has some things to improve but the performance is wonderful!

      1.    Jose Orlando Sarmiento said

Ok Joe, it's Tonight (my hobby time), I download the ROM, and test it on my LG. I'll tell you later. Thanks to you. Greetings…!

Thank you very much Joe, after my message I managed to discover enter the recovery and do cache wipie and as a last option I did system wipiw and after that everything was the same. I do not understand how the mobile was affected so much that not even the pc could download the device driver of my mobile and it did not recognize it as a cell phone, so I could not even unbrick it because the pc stopped recognizing it I had to take it to a care center from Telcel and easily fixed all the software. Thank you very much for taking the care of guiding us since whoever published this video did not respond even because I asked him for a suggestion on his Face account. Success friend Joe =)

Hi people, I'm new Emeng and I don't understand anything about root or anything, let's see if someone can help me. I have a g2 international version d802. and i can't activate 4g. look for tutorials i accessed hidden menus and nothing the chip works because i tried it on another phone call the companies and nobody knows how to help me ,,, help

    1.    Joe said

What country are you from? Some companies put restrictions on phones, eg. Here in Argentina it was not released until a few months ago. In mobile networks it should be the option of the preferred network, if it does not come out check updates for the cell. If there are no updates and it does not appear on mobile networks, you will have to flash another rom.

      1.    Marian said

Hi, thanks for answering. I'm from Argentina, a personal company. I've already tried updating with lg's esupport tool. and nothing ,, eñenenu active when he touched the 4g option does not appear after entering the hidden menu the option appears but I cannot access to navigate in 4g the soft is kk4.4.2 and the 80220 version must be the Asian one. My fear is to touch the cell phone and send me a shit I have it for 15 days, will it be a matter of hardware and it will not be compatible? The strange thing is that the hidden menu offers me band 4 that is the one from here. the other is 28 but that one does not offer me, I hope suggestions a hug

        1.    Joe said

The G2 is 4G in all its models. Movistar released the update that releases it in January. Check the staff website if it doesn't say anything. Are you sure you are in the covered areas?

          1.    Marian said

If there is a basic mini tutorial on the page but it is safe for the d806 model from Latin America, I followed it and nothing, if the area is Palermo Recoleta there is supposedly. And personally they send me to LG ,,, I don't know what to do but I'm scared to send me a shit
