Zopo It was one of the great surprises during the last edition of the Mobile World Congress. The Asian manufacturer, with offices in Spain, surprised us by presenting its new line of telephones, with the powerful Zopo Speed 8 as a flagship of a manufacturer that is going to give a lot to talk about.
Now, after a month of use, I bring you a full review of the Zopo Color S5.5, a phablet with a 5.5-inch screen that stands out for its adjusted price: 159.99 euros. And looking at its performance, if you are looking for a cheap phablet, Zopo's new smartphone is one of the best candidates.
Zopo Color S5.5, a simple and practical design
El Zopo Color S5.5 design It is very simple, a phone that does not stand out from its competitors. Its body made of smooth polycarbonate offers a pleasant touch and good feeling in the hand. In addition, that smooth surface prevents the body of the phone from staining. A detail to keep in mind.
Despite the size of its screen, remember that this is a phone with a 5.5-inch IPS panel, the Zopo Color S5.5 is quite comfortable to hold thanks to its tight measurements: 153.9x77.1x9mm. Another detail that I really liked is that the Zopo Color S5.5 is quite light, weighing only 167 grams.
On the right side of the phone we find the volume control keys, in addition to the terminal on / off button. His construction is solid and offers a correct touch when pressed, they seem quite durable. The left side of the device is completely smooth. While on the upper side the Zopo design team has integrated the 3.5 jack output, on the upper side is located both the terminal microphone and the micro USB charging port.
Highlight the speaker, located at the bottom of the rear panel of the Zopo Color S5.5. Personally I have loved that Zopo has put the speaker there since this way it does not cover at any time when you take it with your hands. A very important detail considering that these types of phones are designed to enjoy multimedia content thanks to their large screens.
In short, a phone that does not stand out for having a different appearance from the others but that more than fulfills its function, being very comfortable in the hand offering a pleasant sensation when holding it. I could criticize the excessive frames on the front, but considering its price, I have nothing to complain about.

Technically the Zopo Color S5.5 performs quite well. To start with the phone comes with Android 5.1 pure, something I appreciate. When we interviewed the CEO of the company, we interviewed Víctor Planas, CEO of Zopo Iberia, they made it very clear to us that the company did not want to weigh down the user experience by using personalized software and it seems that they are keeping their word.
As you may have seen in the video analysis, the Zopo Color S5.5 runs quite smoothly despite its limited RAM, allowing you to play any game without too much trouble. Ok, at some point I have noticed some lag, but it was not annoying enough for the game to be unplayable. In this regard, it must be said that Zopo has optimized its phone very well. Proof of this are the almost 23.000 points it reaches in AnTuTu, A merit considering the screen size of the Zopo Color S5.5
Before moving on to the screen section, I want to highlight another of the strengths of the Zopo Color S5.5: the sound quality of your speakers. And the fact is that the rear speaker of the phone offers an audio quality at the height of a mid-high range, allowing you to enjoy any video with your friends even more.
An ideal screen to enjoy multimedia content
The powerful speaker would be of little use if the display of the Zopo Color S5.5 was not up to par. Nothing is further from reality. Taking into account that the terminal has a simple 5.5 inch IPS panel that reaches a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, I have to say that the image quality, without reaching the excellence of other much more expensive models, will more than meet the needs of any user. And even more so for those who do not want to pay more than 200 euros for a phablet.
The display of the Zopo Color S5.5 offers vivid and sharp colors, allowing it to be viewed in any environment, no matter how sunny the day is. In addition, the viewing angle is quite complete, so that several people can enjoy a video on the Zopo Color S5.5 without problems. Good job from Zopo in this regard.
A somewhat limited camera
Where the Zopo Color S5.5 limps the most is in the camera section. Be careful, we must remember that we are facing an entry-mid-range phone but it is clear that in some aspect the Asian manufacturer had to cut, and it has been with the cameras.
The Zopo Color S5.5 mounts two cameras from the manufacturer Omnivisión, Sony's direct rival in the smartphone camera market. Its main chamber has a 8858 megapixel OV8 sensor with an f / 2.8 and 3 lenses, while on the front we find a 2680 megapixel OV2 sensor with f / 2.8 and 3 lenses.
As you can see, the quality of the images falls a bit short compared to other entry-mid-range phones, although as long as we take pictures in well-lit environments, the camera of the Zopo Color S5.5 will more than do its job. Of course, forget about taking good captures in dimly lit environments, as with any phone on the market to be honest ...

A battery with good autonomy
The battery of the Zopo Color S5.5 has been the other big surprise of this phone. As expected when using several games, the battery has been consumed really quickly, but with normal use of the phone (listening to music for an hour, about two or three hours of browsing, answering emails and other messages and something else) the phone me it has held on between a day and a day and a half. So in this aspect I have nothing to criticize.
At most the fact that it does not have a fast charging system. But we are in business as usual, you cannot ask for all kinds of details in an entry-mid-range phone.
Conclusions
An ideal phablet for those looking for a phone with a big screen at a reasonable price. Looking for a phablet for less than 160 euros? the Zopo Color S5.5 is the best choice. Do you want to give your nephew his first phone? Don't hesitate, a kid wants a big screen and the Zopo Color S5.5 will allow him to play any game.
