Nubia N2, analysis and opinion

Nubia N2

A few days ago I brought you my first impressions after testing the Nubia N2, a new phone from the Asian manufacturer nubian  and that stands out for its incredible 5.000 mAh battery.

Now, after two weeks of use, it's time to make a in-depth analysis  of the Nubian N2,  a phone that has a series of cards that make it stand out from its competitors, but its shortcomings and especially its HD screen, weigh heavily on the user experience in a phone that aimed very high.

Integrated

Nubia N2

Without a doubt the Nubia N2 is a terminal that attracts glances. Its design with the slightly rounded edges and especially the body made of aluminum, which offers a really pleasant feeling in the hand, makes the Nubia N2 a visually very appealing phone. Until you turn on the screen.

And it is that on the front we see that there are excessive frames that partially detract from the attractive appearance of the terminal. And I'm not just talking about the side frames, but the top and bottom frame of the terminal make the Nubia N2 quite a bulky phone.

Proof of this are its dimensions: 155 x 75 x 7,99 mm. Be careful, taking into account that the N2 has a 5.000 mAh battery, the one that does not reach 8 mm is an achievement on the part of the manufacturer. To this must be added the fact that the Nubia N2 weighs only 180 grams, a ridiculous figure considering the size of its battery.

Continuing with the phone chassis, Nubia has opted for a design language very similar to previous models, with a black-toned aluminum chassis with gold accents on the profile, as well as the distinctive manufacturer's logo on the rear.

Returning to the finishes of the terminal, the feelings when picking up the phone are very positive. A detail that I have loved comes from the fact that the manufacturer has hidden the antennas very well on the top and bottom of the phone, making it blend in perfectly with the metallic design of the back. Mind you, the N2 is quite slippery.

On the front we see another very characteristic element of Nubia: the Red circle. But beware, in this case it is not a physical button, but we are facing the fingerprint sensor of the phone.

Moving on to the sides, on the right side is where the manufacturer has placed the terminal on and off button while on the left side is where we will see the volume control keys. All these buttons offer a very good travel and a more than correct pressure resistance.

Finally, at the top is where we will see the 3.5mm audio output while at the bottom is where we will see the USB Type-C charging port in addition to the Nubia N2's speakers.

Nubia N2

Technically we are in front of a telephone Midrange. Its MediaTek MT6750 processor is an old acquaintance in the mid-range. · This SoC, powered by a Mali T860 GPU together with 4 GB of RAM, promises to move any game or application without problems, no matter how much graphic load they require.

I have been testing the terminal for two weeks and the sensations have been quite good in this regard, the phone moves smoothly and does not give performance problemsBut I have noticed that the load times for some high-demand games are noticeably longer on the Nubia N2.

On the other hand, although rarely, I have seen some small lag when browsing the different desks, but I want to make it clear that they have been specific cases, it is not constantly or much less.

A very limited screen

Nubia N2

In the section of the screen, Nubia has decided to bet on a p5.5-inch AMOLED HD anel to bring Nubia N2 to life. Big mistake. We are talking about a phone that hits the market at a price of 299 euros. Who would think of integrating a screen of this type in a phone that supposedly comes to compete in the new super mid-range?

Yes, we are facing an AMOLED panel so the color gamut looks really good, with that saturation so characteristic of Samsung and perfect black tones.

But what use is it that the sharpness is good when we count a density of 267 dpi? Why do I want the colors to look perfect if when going outside the screen loses integers overwhelmingly?

Don't worry, you can use the Nubia N2 on sunny days, but it will cost you to see the screen and that on a phone that costs 300 euros seems like a joke in bad taste.

The comparisons are odious, but it is that without counting the own Nubia N2, there are very few phones, if not none, that costs 299 euros and comes with an HD screen. Ok, a few years ago but to this day it seems like a joke in bad taste.

Battery

Nubia N2

After two weeks of use I can say that autonomy is one of the great strengths of the Nubia N2. The new phone from the Asian manufacturer has ab5.000 mAh battery, more than enough to support all the weight of the hardware of this phone, more if we take into account its AMOLED HD screen. But the phone has exceeded my expectations.

Now that I have been able to use the new Nubia phone more intensively, I am clear that the battery is the great strength of this phone. It was to be expected that a terminal that has a 5.000 mAh battery offers a above average autonomy  but still the battery of the Nubia N2 has surprised me a lot. And for the better.

To begin with, the Nubia N2 can go several days without charging it. In the days that I have given the terminal more intensive use, the autonomy reached two days, arriving at night on the second day with 10% battery. In addition, on the days where I was using more moderately, I have reached two and a half days of use without problems. Although it is true that with such a limited technical sheet, especially for the AMOLED HD panel, 5.000 mAh can give a great autonomy, the Nubia N2 has far exceeded my expectations in this regard.

Camera

Nubia N2

If the battery is one of the most notable differentiating points of the new Nubia N2, the camera section is the other great asset of the new phone from the Asian manufacturer.

Recall that in the main camera we find a sensor of 13 megapixels with phase detection focus, f / 2.2 lens and Neovision 6.0, the Nubian processor software. Already in the front is where we will see the front camera, formed by a 16 megapixel sensor with f / 2.0 lens and beauty mode.

Its technical sheet is quite complete and if we add the software that mounts the phone as standard, it is clear that the camera section is the other great strength of the Nubia N2.

With a design very similar to that of the iPhone camera app, the Nubia N2 software has a large number of integrated functions, such as HDR mode, multiple exposure, light painting mode, macro or the professional mode. The latter will allow us to adjust different camera parameters such as white balance or ISO level, which opens up an interesting range of possibilities, as long as you know about these issues.

Anyway, if you are not an expert in the art of photography, don't worry. its Automatic mode it performs really well, standing out compared to the vast majority of competitors by offering captruas that in good light conditions, offer incredible results.

And let's not forget the fluidity of it since the sensation when taking a capture is of immediacy, thanks to the phase detection focus that works really fast even in low light conditions. Whenever we take photographs in well-lit environments we will be surprised by the quality of your photographs.

Indoors the Nubia N2 camera still behaves really well Although, as is common in the vast majority of smartphones, when night falls or taking pictures in poorly lit environments, you will see the dreaded noise make an appearance. Finally I leave you with a series of photographs so that you can see how the Nubia N2 camera works.

Conclusions

Autonomy is the weak point in the vast majority of devices, a widespread evil whose only solution is to increase the capacity of the batteries. And here the movement made by Nubia with her N2 has been exquisite since have managed to integrate a 5.000 mAh battery in a really cool design.

If you want a phone with a great battery, the Nubia N2 is not going to disappoint you. But I can't say the same for its 5.5-inch HD-quality screen. Nubia is a brand that is growing and from which we have seen real gems such as Universal Z11. But unfortunately this Nubia N2, especially if we take into account the 299 euros it costs, it is going to be very complicated in the market.
