Nest prepares an update of its security products

This morning I told you that Nest is working on a cheaper thermostat for the smart home, but I also told you that this company owned by Alphabet is also immersed in an upgraded version of your security camera, a home alarm system, and a digital doorbell.

Indeed, the Nest firm, which has just landed in several European countries, including Spain, wants to reach more and more homes and for this, it is going to improve and expand the features and functions of its home security catalog. Let's see what is known so far.

According to the insights published by Bloomberg, and that comes from an anonymous source, one of the products that will be renewed will be the Nest Cam Indoor.

At the moment, little is known about this new camera but it is rumored that would be able to identify specific people, while the model launched last year is only capable of detecting the presence or absence of people in the room, without identifying them.

This new camera could see the light next fall, unlike that cheaper thermostat that wouldn't arrive until next year.

But Nest is also working on new smart home products, one of them would be a home alarm system something smarter than the usual models. The prototypes have a central cube with a keypad, a set of sensors for windows and doors, and a device that could be used to activate / deactivate the alarm. In addition, the system could work with an application on the smartphone, which would allow the user to even grant access to people remotely. Its launch could also occur this year.

Finally, Nest would also be working on a digital doorbell Through which the visitor can communicate by audio and video, and that could also work through an application for the smartphone, which would allow it to be used anywhere in the home. It seems that this product would not arrive until 2018.
