The Moto G is the first smartphone to update to Android 5.0

A few hours ago my partner Francisco Ruiz I informed you that the new Moto G 2014 could be one of the first smartphones to receive the latest update to the Google operating system. Well, Motorola has done it again. Yes, it has advanced to the Nexus range being the Moto G 2014 the first smartphone to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop.

And is that some US and Canadian users have already received the update via OTA. We are talking about an official OTA, no ROMS cooked like the one on the Nexus 5. And taking into account that the original Moto G has very similar features to the version that already has its share of Lollipop, I don't think it will take long to also launch its update via OTA. Although they may delay the update to differentiate the two devices a bit.

The Moto G 2014 already has Android 5.0

Android Lollipop

The models that have are receiving the OTA correspond to the versions XT1063, XT1064, XT1068 and XT 1069. Corresponding to North America. So if you are lucky enough to have one of these models, sooner rather than later the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop will arrive, which with a weight of 368,7 MB will bring you all the news under the attractive Material Design. And I don't think it will take long for this update to arrive in Europe.

Can Motorola really do something wrong? Okay, from France they have said that the Moto Maxx will not arrive in Europe. This fact I consider to be the only failure the company has had, and more than anything I say it because of the tantrum that I have taken because I honestly love that phone.

The truth is that the manufacturer recently acquired by Lenovo is doing things really well. The fact that the Moto G 2014 is the first smartphone to receive Android 5.0 Lollipop it leaves most manufacturers in a very bad place.

First, due to the fact that Motorola has decided to upgrade to its flagship smartphone in the mid-range first. With this move Motorola kills two birds with one stone. It first shows that a Midrange, with 1GB of RAM it can run Android 5.0 Lollipop smoothly.

And on the other hand, it leaves its competitors in a very bad place. How can it be that Android 5.0 Lollipop arrives before the Moto G 2014 than the high-end of Samsung or LG, or even worse, the Nexus 5? While is true that there are already ROMS cooked for the Nexus 5, but it has not yet received an update officially.

With these movements Motorola is gaining more followers every day. Let the big companies tremble because the union between Motorola and Lenovo is going to give a lot to talk about.

But then equal to comparison of other companies (sony, samsung, htc, huawei, etc.) Motorola does not bring a layer of customization like these companies so it is easier to update it to the latest version, also the moto g does not have a hardware or software as advanced as the moto x 2014 and 2013 therefore motorola chose to update the moto g 2014 first.
