Sometimes this thing about apps and services is crazy. I say this because suddenly we are giving an important use to a certain app, so that from one day to the next we can no longer use it or some of its characteristics have been taken to another of the same company. I know that everything is so that the user can have the best apps, but sometimes, they make the partridge dizzy in an incredible way.
Such is the case with Messenger, that its arrival must be applauded, but it arrives with a little of what was said. Messenger will take care of manage SMS and MMS messages that arrive on your Android phone. Its virtues are many and it has a good way ahead for news and updates to arrive, but what are Google's intentions from now on with messaging apps?
What's so special about Messenger?
It comes as the app to carry SMS and MMS in the best possible way on an Android phone with the Lollipop aesthetic, and can be downloaded to other devices that have Android 4.1 or higher.
Among the features that Messenger has, we can mention the ability to share images and videos from chat, search for contacts and conversations, SMS blocking, sending audio messages, striking use of color for certain messages and sending emoticons or emoji. Where is Hangouts with Messenger
The first thing to comment on this topic is to see how one of Google's direct rivals has dealt with this issue of messaging apps, and it is none other than Facebook. Its move to separate Facebook Messenger from the social network has meant that it now has two messaging apps, but which have different purposes. WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger coexist without getting in the way each having its own space and this is the same thing that Google is doing now.
The difference exists perhaps, in that Google maintains Messenger for SMS / MMS, Hangouts for everything else, and we will surely see the inclusion of a new independent messaging app from these two. A model similar to that of Facebook but with the difference of having a special app for SMS text messages.
You also have to remember that Hangouts did not work as it shouldSince its appearance, the app did not stand out for offering the user an adequate experience. Reasons are the lag of the app, a non-intuitive interface and its slowness, which has meant that many users did not use it on a day-to-day basis, yes for something occasional, but not enough.
