Leds Hack, turn off the lights on your Android

Today I will talk about this simple app available in the market and that I combine with the rendered effect and also to minimize the flash of my Android at night hours and that it is appreciated when using the telephone when there is no type of light in the environment.

The principle of the app is simple as well as useful. Turn off the keypad of your Android terminal. There are more on the market, but it is the only one that has not given me problems with cooked ROMs and it has worked for me on my HTC terminals.

The options of the app are what you imagine, light off and light on. And that's it. As you use it, it already comes accordingly. This app need ROOT access to the terminal. Among the few options that this application could have, we found them when pressing menu, from the main window:

  • Of course, terminal selection for the application to work.
  • Give it some conditions to start on its own and turn off the lights.
  • What do we want to turn off: notification led, keypad led, or trackball.
  • If we want it to appear in the notification area when the application is working.
  • Persistent mode (watch out for this one).
  • And then the aggressiveness with which the program acts (we are going, together with the persistent mode, so that it always works even if there are errors). This mode does not attack the terminal, nor does it take out a stick and break the screen. They simply already warn that it consumes more battery.

It has the much used option of add a widget to our desk to facilitate the on / off of this tool (which does not work for me). I think the problem is in the ROOT permissions, that the widget does not ask for them, although I have not investigated thoroughly, because with a shortcut, the application opens with the two buttons to turn on and off, and the widget does not seem to me necessary.

I use this application together with the rendering for when I read RSS in bed. Of course (although it is not noticeable) if you want to use it during the day too, so that the lights do not turn on, and consume less battery (they are LEDs, they do not consume anything or almost nothing) you can also do it. You could also use it to turn off the lights when you are watching a video.

I leave you some screenshots of the program and you tell me those of you who want to try it.
