La latest beta version of EMUI 9.1 is now available for all high-end Huawei Mate 20 series (Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20X and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design). After delivering a stable experience for this flagship family, EMUI 9.1 will be rolled out to other Huawei models in the near future.
The new update is available only on non-rooted devices running EMUI 9.0.1. We suggest that you proceed with the update only if you know all about having a beta version installed. Furthermore, the company revealed that the update does not support the rollback feature; once you have upgraded, there will be no way to go back to the previous version.
There are many new features and improvements in EMUI 9.1. The new user interface with beautiful onboard icons makes it more realistic, simple and expressive. Now, the whole system is more refined and optimized, thanks to Huawei's new Ark Compiler, which improves performance by 24%, responsiveness by 44%, and third-party operations by 60%. Its goal is to bring deep optimizations to the root level.
El new EROFS file system increases read speeds by up to 20%, over the previous EXT4 file system. Additionally, the new GPU Turbo 3.0 speeds up graphics processing, ensuring lower power consumption with higher frame rates.
Currently, the update is being distributed in China, although it would soon be expanding to other countries. To install it successfully, make sure the device has 6GB free space on its internal storage and runs on EMUI 9.0.1. At the same time, we recommend performing the download process when connected to a stable Wi-Fi network, to avoid inconveniences when downloading the package and, in turn, not consume mobile data.
