CM 12.1 with Lollipop for Galaxy Nexus

Google together with Samsung released in 2011 one of the best Nexus in the history of Google smartphones. This innovative device in the market, being one of the first terminals that did not have physical buttons on the screen but everything had touch buttons and that it was the first mobile with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the first Android that gave a design change to how it was in the beginning.

What's more, the success of the Galaxy Nexus was so great that it was a bestselling smartphone in its time. Until now, among which I include myself, users enjoyed the latest updates to the Google operating system, but unfortunately, the guys from Mountain View decided not to give more support to this terminal, so Android 5.1 Lollipop would never arrive.

However, the developer community is very large and they have a special affection for the Galaxy Nexus, which is why thanks to the CyanogenMod developer group, users who still have a Galaxy Nexus will be able to enjoy a ROM under Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Lollipop

The ROM in nightly version is a version for the GSM model of the well-known smartphone, so users who have the Verizon version will have to wait for CyanogenMod to adapt the ROM. The Verizon version was sold in America, so most consumers who read us probably have the GSM version.

The ROM weighs about 248 MB, so it is always better to download the file containing the Wi-Fi ROM. To install it you just have to follow the same steps as when installing any other ROM, download and also install the version corresponding to CM 12.1 of Google's GAPPS, in order to enjoy Google services and the Play Store. Regardless of whether you are an expert in flashing smartphones or not, it must be said that the Nightly versions of a ROM are not considered stable versions, so the terminal may not work perfectly.

To all this we must add that its hardware is 5 years old, so it is normal that when installing a version of Android that asks for more resources as well as the loading of the different applications is not the best and we see some other lag between application transitions. Be that as it may, thanks to the developers, the Galaxy Nexus comes to life again and as they say: »The old never dies«.
