Last week we learned that Samsung has begun mass production of the second generation of 14nm FinFET technology included in the Snapdragon 820 chip. A chip that is being integrated into a large number of smartphones that will appear in 2016 and among which we find the LG G5 and the next Samsung S7, at least in one of its variants. His excellent energy efficiency has managed that even the Korean manufacturer can reduce the capacity of the battery of the G5. Nor should we forget its graphic capabilities that gives it a quality leap in this regard so that we can see better video games in this year that we have just attacked.
This Snapdragon chip is also in another of Xiaomi's best bets of the year such as the Mi 5. We know this thanks to the appearance of this phone on Geekbench with some of its specifications. Apart from that Qualcomm chip, it has a 3 GB RAM which they suggest we can possibly see two variants of this phone with different internal memory, something already normal for certain phones launched by various manufacturers. Another of the big appearances on that list on Geekbench is the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version, although this has already been leaked before on numerous occasions, but it is still good to be confirmed.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 has achieved a score of 1.927 points in the single-core test, while it has reached 5.123 points in the multi-core test. These results are excellent and suggest that they have been achieved thanks to the Snapdragon 820 SoC, although it does not appear named as such in the list of specifications on GeekBench.
That said, Xiaomi will launch two slightly different versions of its flagship for next February. According to one of the last reports we have seen, the company will launch a MI 5 of minor features with a metal frame and what would be glass on the front and on the back. A terminal with a 5,1-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) and 2.5D screen.
The higher specification model will be manufactured entirely in metal and will be characterized by a 5,1-inch QuadHD (2560 x 1440) screen. These variants have not been confirmed by the company, so we will have to be on the lookout while the official ones begin to arrive, although, as of the date we are in, they will not take long.
Two variants for the Mi 5
It may not be like that and it is the specification dance that indicates the appearance of two variants, but it would also not be surprising due to the trend existing in bringing different hardware to satisfy potential buyers of one of the most anticipated phones of the year.
Samsung and the three variants of the Galaxy S7, or Sony with the three of the Xperia Z5 are clear examples for Xiaomi to jump on the train and bring us two versions a little different in specifications with a lower price in one.
