We put the widgets of the 4 best to-do list apps face to face

Best ready-to-do widgets

There are a lot of apps to take notes and between them there are 4 apps of to-do lists that they will allow us to have everything well organized and that we do not forget anything. We are going to focus on the widgets because of the importance they have in an app to take notes in order to access the lists from the desktop of our mobile.

If I have made this list it is out of my own need to find one that meets my expectations to have even a modern widget from which you can access to that list of personal things, movies to watch, or just important things that I do not want to leave out. And let's be clear, a to-do list app without a big widget is kind of limping. Go for it.

ticktick

TickTick widget

This is one great to-do list app that covers part of the features I am looking for: that it has a widget with color themes and that it includes reminders for the notes (this is how notifications appear in the status bar and I realize it). This last feature is not available in all as with Todoist where it is a premium.

The handicap of TickTick is that the tutorial is not in Spanish, although then most of the texts are translated when we deal with the widget and others.

ticktick

Apart from highlighting that TickTick has themes for widgets (I like to put the widget's color in yellow so that it differs visually and is not just one of the ones I have on the desktop) and reminders for notes, the experience of creating a note also adds many integers, by being able to use a gesture to the left from the note to-do to set a reminder, or its ability to add files or even YouTube videos. In other words, it can become more than just an app for to-do lists. Also striking is the number of widgets to add up to 10.

As at the moment I am looking for an app to list to-do with a great widget and that has the reminders (I would choose Todoist if I had the reminders for free), ticktick, to my surprise it will be able to replace it. It even has labels or the ability to prioritize a note. Also all the options to style the widget add up to many integers and it is almost becoming the favorite and the one I will use.

Pros

  • Widget with different colors and can be fully customized
  • Reminders, add files, embedded video links and tags in notes for free
  • Good design
  • Subscription model with more advanced options

Contra

  • The tutorial is not in Spanish

Google Tasks

Google Tasks Widget

Google's to-do list apps have the great feature of sync other lists you've made before from the catalog of your apps; apart from what it was updated a few months ago with the dark theme. In fact, when I used the main Google account, it began to synchronize all the ones I had previously. Remember that one of the best options that the Google assistant has is the shopping list. So this very function is already a positive point in its favor.

Open Google Tasks, the truth is that Google has made a great design work with one button at the bottom that invites us to create our first task. We created it and we noticed that it has fewer options than TickTock. It only allows you to create the to-do note, although it does offer to put a reminder. And one detail, put a little note just below it.

Google Tasks

Created several notes we go to the widget to see how it is. Firstly, does not allow you to customize it in any way. Placed on the desktop, it does offer the option to switch between the different lists, but that is the thing apart from being able to create a new note to-do from the + button. Yes, I liked that when you click on any empty space, you go to the note creation window, but there everything remains.

If we go to the customization of the theme, from the app already open it does allow to switch between light, dark and default theme. Little more for an app of lists all very sparing in options. Logically it is for those who want one that is synchronized between their Google account and do not need much. Very good in design, yes.

Pros

  • Synchronization with other lists that you have in your Google account
  • Good design
  • Free
  • Allows you to put reminders in the notes

Contra

  • Too easy
  • Widget cannot be customized: only dark or light theme
  • Can't add files or tag tasks

T

Todoist widget

I have been using Todoist for years and the truth is that I have been able to get the most out of it with its widget and those to-do lists that they made it the best app of its kind for a long time. But there have been competitors who have been subtracting users like the one who types these lines himself.

Todoist can show off great design and a great experience, but this is differentiated between its free options and that monthly subscription of 4 euros. If you pay monthly you have reminders, tags to notes, comments and files, but if we look for this in another free app we have TickTick that offers the same for zero euros. This is where Todoist is losing the race, although it is true that it offers more options in its subscription such as the weekly progress display.

T

That weekly progress is determined by completing tasks and how it is evaluating your progress. It also offers premium themes to color the widget, so if you want to go from the red that it offers by default, you have to checkout.

As in our case we are looking for a widget that allows us to create to-do lists With a color theme and those reminders, plus the ability to add documents, Todoist is moving away from leaving it installed and is going to be replaced by TickTick. But that of Microsoft comes next.

Pros

  • Great design
  • Very comprehensive with weekly evaluations of completed assignments
  • Great widget with calendar events and commands to automate tasks

Contra

  • The subscription model does include reminders, tags, priority and add files in the widget

Microsoft's To Do

To-Do widget

Taking the work of Wunderlist, a great app that was absorbed by Bill Gates' company (and even allows you to import all your notes), and knowing that Microsoft designs excellent apps and software, To Do is a great app for to-do lists , but what Freck of lack of personalization in the theme. Especially in that very bland widget that we can "color" or black or white. In other words, if we put it on the desktop it will not stand out in any way if we put it next to other widgets.

Like the Google Tasks widget, it is very sparing in customization and they have not even worked to generate a mini window to create the note. It takes you directly to the list, that yes from the app allows you to put a background as an image or customize it with a wide variety of colors. But this customization does not exist in your widget, so we continue to stick with TickTick for this reason.

To Do Microsoft

Yes, to-do has everything you want to put tasks, define due date, reminders or even the option to repeat; This last feature allows us to put daily routines to save energy and time.

In the design it also wins a lot and in the matter of the updates of the same. Surely that when we return to it in a year it will have all those counter solved and it is going to become the best, but for now, since it was launched not long ago, it still has things to improve.

It has been in the last update in which smart lists have been integrated and that allow us to better organize all the to-do lists. But what has been said, in an aspect as important as the widget in a to-do list, the customization is null and is far behind TickTick.

Pros

  • Very complete without any extra payment
  • Includes calendar, reminder, add files and notes in the notes
  • Smart lists
  • Topics in in-app notes

Contra

  • Widgets are bland - only light and dark theme

We stay with TickTick

ticktick

Finally we are left with TickTick, quite a surprise, and that it will be able to replace To-Do with your customization options, and Todoist for not allowing it to use reminders for free or add files to notes. Google Tasks is a bit far from being more simple, although it does not lack a great design.

Let's be clear, if you use a to-do list app, the widget is vital to mark the tasks done without having to open the app, so it is one of the important aspects and that is why it has been a decisive element between a and another. We are finally left with TickTick for being the most complete at all levels: great design, color widgets, reminders, add files to notes and totally free.

This is how we end this face to face of the widget of the 4 best apps for to-do lists Which one do you prefer based on your experience?
