An entire Dungeon & Dragons on your mobile: Warriors of Waterdeep

Warriors of Waterdeep is available on the Play Store with a great reception by the gamer public from an Android. An RPG with the endorsement of being a Dungeon & Dragons, although it is far from what one would expect, especially when we have the basis of role-playing games as we understand them.

The story takes us to Waterdeep, the largest city on the Sword Coast and which is threatened by powerful forces. But luckily we cans help them by being summoned by Laeral Silverhand and get in the way of the enemy who wants to reach the gates of the city.

The problem of when you wear the Dungeons & Dragons brand is that everything is expected. And waiting for everything means that as you do not meet expectations, disappointment tends to flood the fans of the genre, so the bad reviews begin to fall one after another.

If Warriors of Waterdeep were another game by another name We can assure you that it would have a better score in the Play Store, but it is what it is. A new title for Android that shows good technical performance, although it lacks that special point to excite.

It is based on turn-based combat and those loot boxes that will give way to be able to improve the different heroes that we will collect. That is, we are talking about a pure freemium in which we need chests to be able to get coins, armor and more.

A simplistic combat in which that special touch is missing

What if you can boast is the variety of enemies that we will find through the different levels. We have raging giants, the undead and those ferocious hobgoblins that will make it very difficult for us. Combat is based on having two actions to perform: movement and attack. The enemies will be generated on the board so that we move while we attack and defend ourselves.

As we pass the first levels we can unlock a new hero. Luckily we have the possibility to choose between two, as happens in the same levels that after the first enemies we will be faced with the choice of going left or right. Not that it will change the common thread of the story, but at least it is some variety for these types of games.

We must also improve each of our heroes. Easy thing since we will be indicated with those bright indicators that almost save us from having to waste time. At least it doesn't have auto-attack like other gacha games that are expanding like foam.

The original of the board

One of the points that we liked Warriors of Waterdeep is the original way of entering on the levels when the camera moves to one of the tables where are our heroes and thus give way to a small recreation of the map. An original touch that we would like to see more of in a game that cries out for more work and those special touches that would excite Dungeon & Dragons fans.

Technically well worked, though lacks that special point in animations and effects. And look that we find large final bosses, but they stay longer than that; by the way, it is not understood that it costs us less to defeat the first final boss than its minions. It will be that they have cast a spell and the poor thing does not give for more ...

Warriors of Waterdeep has fallen one step away from being a better game, although they will not lack fans, since in general terms it is quite good. But what has been said, carrying that D&D brand has its own and is a pressure that they have not been able to measure up to when launching it on Android.
