These three devices already support HDR content from Netflix

Netflix

The list of devices that are compatible with the audiovisual content in HDR quality from Netflix continues to increase and although these advances are slow, there are already five devices where users can enjoy series and movies with exceptional image quality.

Specifically, the three new devices that have just joined Netflix's select club of HDR content are the recently introduced LG V30, Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 and Sony Xperia XZ1.

New members join the Netflix HDR club

It seems like the list of devices compatible with Netflix HDR content is growing, although child as quickly as already some middle rush to qualify. For a time, the South Korean flagship LG G6 was the only device to offer support for Dolby Vision. Just a month ago, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium was added to that list, thus becoming the second phone to be certified for the playback of HDR content. Now, that list has welcomed three new members: with the latest update, the playback of movies and series in HDR is now enabled on the three most recent and flagship smartphones from LG, Samsung and Sony.

LG V30

To be able to enjoy this novelty it will be essential to have the latest updated version of the firmware on your device LG V30, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Sony Xperia XZ1, as well as having a 4-screen Netflix subscription (€ 11,99 per month) and of course, a good and stable Internet connection that allows you to take advantage of the magnificent screen of your phone, either FullVision, Infinity Display or Triluminos, depending on the terminal, respectively. Now, Netflix content that supports HDR will be displayed with brighter colors and higher contrast.

And although some may be surprised neither the Galaxy S8 nor the Galaxy S8 Plus still appear as compatible devices with Netflix HDR content. But this is because Samsung was the first to bring HDR10 to a mobile device (the failed Galaxy Note 7), but the Galaxy S8 duo doesn't support HDR10 or Dolby Vision, the two HDR standards Netflix uses. And while some users have claimed that their Galaxy S8 devices display the HDR icon on Netflix, the company says it's a bug.

Thus, for the moment, the Galaxy Note 8 will continue to be the only Samsung device included in that list, although more and more manufacturers will add HDR10 compatibility to their main smartphones, so the list will continue to grow in the future.

Excellent article, however, I would like to know why your list does not include the samsung galaxy tabs 3 I have it and if I have seen Series on YouTube, however, I am not sure if content I have viewed in HDR or not.

Hello developer. The reason why we do not include the device you mention is because in this post we are talking about HDR content from Netflix (we are not talking about YouTube) and on the other hand, so far, the only five devices compatible with such content are those mentioned in the Article. All the best!
