Internet sales giant Amazon continues to improve on one of its most successful products, the Amazon Echo smart speaker, which has become the best-selling device in its category in the United States.
So much so that if you are one of the lucky ones who has more than one of these devices, now you can enjoy the new multi-room music playback function.
Synchronize your favorite songs in multiple rooms
If you own more than one unit of Amazon's Echo speaker, now you can sync so they all play the same song in multiple rooms of the house simultaneously. This new feature began rolling out yesterday for all owners of the Echo, Echo Dot, and the newly launched Echo Show.
If you have an Echo speaker, all you have to do is access the Alexa app to sync two or more of these speakers, and later, name that group. Once you have done it, you just have to ask Alexa to play a certain song on that group of speakers and it will automatically start playing on all of them simultaneously.
At the moment, the multi-room music function is available to play songs through Amazon Music, TuneIn, iHeartRadio and Pandora, although the company has already indicated that it will soon also support the Spotify and SiriusXM services.
On the other hand, the new feature is also currently limited to users of United States, United Kingdom and Germany. In the future, Amazon plans to extend this feature to other non-Echo speakers such as Sonos, Bose, Sound United and Samsung, as the company has already confirmed. This will be possible thanks to Amazon's new Connected Speakers API.
