Android security updates have become, depending on the manufacturer, a rare commodity. Fortunately, little by little, manufacturers continue to increase their compression in this regard and many are the terminals that enjoy them, even though they have been on the market for a while.
Samsung is a clear example of what I am talking about. A few days ago he launched a security update for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, terminals that stopped receiving monthly updates a few months ago and they have entered the quarterly update cycle.
Now it is the turn of a somewhat more recent model. We are talking about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, a terminal that has begun to receive the security update for the month of September 2019.
This update, which firmware number N950FXXS7DSHC, fixes 17 vulnerabilities that had been detected in the different applications and Samsung customization layer in this terminal. But in addition, it also fixes 4 critical vulnerabilities that had been detected in the version of Android that you have at the moment.
This update has become available in Germany, as always happens with this type of update, so within a few hours, or days, it should reach the rest of European users.
To be able to check if the update is already available, you just have to go to the Settings of your terminal and click on Software Updates and then check manually. If it is available, the terminal will invite you to download and install it, a process that you should do when you are connected to a WiFi network and when you are charging the terminal, in order to avoid unnecessary spending of battery outside the home and can leave you without battery before you get home.
