 A simplistic and effective design

SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 is a very compact device. Nails on measures 11 x 19.8 x 36.6 mm, it is quite clear that this USB Flash memory for Android devices has a very small size.

Her body, made of polycarbonate, it offers a pleasant touch, in part thanks to that edging that integrates part of its body and that gives the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 a very attractive appearance. As you will see, it has a sliding button on one of the sides. This button serves to cswitch between a USB 3.0 connector and a Micro USB connector.  

This button It is made of plastic and its mechanism is difficult to get used to since the quality of its finishes is not the best. Of course, let's remember that the model we have analyzed, the 32 GB version, costs 11.90 euros on Amazon. For this price we can't expect premium finishes either.

After having used this USB memory for a month, I have gotten used to the button and switch from USB to Micro USB without major problems. Definitely a design more than correct and up to expectations expected from a product with these characteristics.

How SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 Works

While it is true that the boys of SanDisk have created a very complete application to use your USB memory, the fact of being able to connect the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 to your Android smartphone or tablet and that they detect it as a flash memory at the moment is a very favorable point.

Transferring any file from the phone to the flash drive or vice versa is really simple and comfortable since you can use any file explorer, I personally usually use ASTRO and I have not had any problems.

If you want to use the official application of the manufacturer, say that SanDisk Memory Zone is available in the Google App Store. Its intuitive interface will instantly detect all the files you have on your phone and organize them by categories (images, videos, audios…) so that you can organize yourself. You can also make a backup copy of your phone to the flash drive quickly and easily by pressing a single button and selecting what you want to save.

Surprising transfer speed

I have tried to transfer all types of files, from small files to a film that weighed almost 2 GB and I have to say that the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 has performed with a note offering more than correct transfer rates.

Using a USB 2.0:

The average write speed has been 20 Mbps

The average read speed has been 33 Mbps

Using a USB 3.0:

The average write speed has been 32 Mbps

The average read speed has been 115 Mbps

Final conclusions

I've been testing the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 for a month and I found it to be quite a useful tool. The fact of being a plug and play system makes the task much easier and, for example, I have used the USB memory to watch movies without any problem. In addition, its official application is really complete and works perfectly, offering an easy and intuitive interface.

La reading and writing speed have seemed more than correct. While it is true that we can find other solutions that offer a better result, the price increases significantly so I think that SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0 is very well balanced in this regard.

If I had to criticize something I would focus on the button that is used to switch between the USB and Micro USB connectors since it seemed flimsy to me and it is difficult to get used to its route. But it is a lesser evil that is outweighed by the rest of the features and especially with a highly compensated price.
