Samsung 5G

Samsung was one of the first manufacturers to bet on 5G technology last year, a technology that today already incorporates most of the smartphones that are being launched on the market, although it has meant a considerable price increase of the can-end terminals that have reached the market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865.

According to the guys from Strategy Analytics in their latest report, Samsung leads the world market for 5G telephony with a market share of 34,4%. If we only talk about market share in the United States, that figure stands at a whopping 94%.

The three best-selling smartphones with 5G technology in the US market they are the Galaxy S20 + 5G, with a market share of 40%, followed by the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G and the Galaxy S20 5G, which occupy the second and third positions respectively. The market share of the S20 Ultra is 30% while that of the S20 is 24%.

These figures correspond to the first quarter of 2020, a quarter in which 3,4 million 5G smartphones sold, which represents 12% of the total number of smartphones sold in the United States. Smartphones compatible with 5G networks are being sold mainly in the wealthiest sectors of Los Angeles and New York.

Samsung makes available to US users 5 smartphones compatible with 5G networks: Samsung Galaxy S20, Samsung Galaxy S20 +, Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S10 and Samsung Galaxy Fold. The company has announced the launch of the Galaxy A51 5G and Galaxy 71 5G in the coming weeks and which will be joined in the second half of the year by the Galaxy Z Flip 5G.

In the United States, Apple and Samsung share most of the market. For now Apple has not released any smartphone with 5G technology, but it is provided that it does so next September. It will be at that moment, when Samsung's market share in 5G smartphones begins to fall until, probably, it shares the market share with the Cupertino company.
