Samsung scraps the 128GB version of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge

Galaxy S6

On our blog we have been talking about Samsung for the past few weeks for various reasons. One of them is the restructuring that the company is carrying out to achieve greater profitability in the market. This aims to get rid of the large number of models that compete with each other and that do not allow the Korean to achieve the best results or the greatest notoriety. However, at least so far, these new proposals were not going to affect what is considered the highest range of their mobile terminals, in this case the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

In the end, at least in view of the movements that Samsung is taking, things seem to have gone another way. Don't panic, Samsung fans, it's not such bad news. And to those who were already applauding the failure of the latest high-end series of the Galaxy, I am not going to give you reasons to go and celebrate. This is just the removal of the higher capacity version in some markets. That is, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge will not have their 128GB option to complement the 32GB and 64GB.

A pre-announced decision: eliminate the 128GB

Although the news may take more than one by surprise, the one who has wanted has seen Samsung pre-announce a similar move. Actually, in most European markets we have never had a 128GB version of the models Samsung Galaxy S6. What's more, with its presentation, only the 32GB and 64GB proposals arrived, the ones that obtained the most sales. Until now, when the information has been made official, most had not even noticed the lack of the mobile terminal. That means that in this case the Korean not only has not been wrong but may have managed to reduce costs by increasing its profit.

All the 128GB versions of mobile terminals respond to this desire to have the most expensive phone of the entire series. However, if a few years ago the consumer was sometimes fooled by marketing strategies that indicated that if your model was more expensive, it was better, now things have changed. The customer has become increasingly intelligent and just as few people choose mobile phones for the number of MP that the camera has, fewer and fewer users are willing to pay much more for having a large storage capacity. Especially if they know that they are not going to use it and that the space in the cloud is the best option to be able to access everything.

In particular, I think it is worth remembering what is one of the strongest criticisms from users regarding the higher capacity storage versions. How is it possible that a terminal has a difference of more than € 150 between versions? The truth is that no expert has been able to explain the answer except with the argument that companies seek to maximize the profit in those versions with greater capacity. It is much more profitable to sell a 128GB phone because the benefit it reports is greater as the expense does not skyrocket to the same extent as the price. But that profitability, with a smart consumer, doesn't seem to work. Bye bye Samsung Galaxy S6 128GB even though we've never seen you!

"Actually, in most European markets we have never had a 128GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 models." Well, I went to the English court to ask for info on the 32GB Edge in gold and what the clerk told me is "just me 128GB remains. In the end I took the normal smurf blue 32GB one, because that extra cost of € 150 for the small curvature is not worth it either ... Although I am from Mallorca, we are still out of Europe, hehe. Anyway, if you go to the English court page they are for sale and in stock, and I would swear that I also saw them in media markt this week. Anyway, the S6 does not cost what it is worth. Samung sells hardware, but not a user experience like Apple does. I am sorry about the S6, a lot. I live connected to a powerbank, version 5.1.1 adds lag, and the problem of RAM management continues ... Badly used hardware. Lugging for samsung.

Years ago I ran away from everything that the iPhone meant, devices with limited features, memory limitations and the few very expensive options, short battery life and also non-removable, phones impossible to personalize, null settings, small screens ... etc .
So after many glorious years at samsung and being very happy by the way, I find myself with the unpleasant situation that I seem to go back to everything that I ran away from.
But don't worry ... that's not going to happen.
