Cortana is one of Microsoft's bets for the new Windows 10 that will arrive free of charge for all users who have Windows 7 or Windows 8 for this coming summer. Cortana follows what is seen in Siri with a voice assistant that will accompany the user in their day to day with their computer under Windows 10, apart from being already available for Windows Phone 8.1. One of the most interesting initiatives by Microsoft for the new Windows update.
Keep in mind that Cortana is restricted for use in Microsoft products, although thanks to two hackers there is a port that works on Android. A port that is not the most perfect implementation of a voice assistant but that works on Android, although it does, in Italian.
Hacking Cortana
OrangeSec is an Italian hacker group claiming to have the Cortana port on Android. Cortana, the activated voice assistant that will be integrated into Windows 10 and which can be accessed by Windows Phone 8.1 users.
The group has named this port as "Portaña" and as I have said before, does not have all the features of the full version. Portaña cannot integrate with Android applications like Cortana if it does with Windows Phone applications, but this will be a matter of time, since as we know when one of these hackers finds a way to explore it with all its consequences .
This port was demonstrated in Droidcon 2015 and they showed how Portaña works on Android, although it does not connect to Microsoft's servers and only speaks in Italian. It should be remembered that last month some rumors appeared about the possibility of a version of Cortana for iOS and Android appearing as its own independent application, although Microsoft has not confirmed anything related to this launch.
It won't take long to appear either due to the agreement reached with Cyanogen to carry an Android phone without Google apps but that if it will have Microsoft services integrated like Skype, Bing or what would be the voice assistant Cortana.
