If we look at his Right side, we can see, in the upper part, a single elongated button that serves us for the volume controls. Just below this, the P10 features the lock and on / off button.
At left side find the slot for cards. A slot where we can simultaneously insert two SIM cards as well as a memory card. Something that is not usually very common. And below this another button that we did not expect. Normally, in a high percentage of the terminals that we have tested, the manufacturers choose to include as few buttons as possible.
This dedicated button is configure you, and we can attribute the function that we consider more comfortable or important. By default, we find a direct access to the camera, something that makes the operation necessary to take a capture much faster.
La upper part of the device is completely diaphanous, but this fortunately is not synonymous with the existence of any absence. One of our favorite moments comes when we receive a smartphone, unboxing. And we proceed to see everything we find inside the POPTEL P10 box. As always, in the foreground we find the phone itself. And the first thing that stands out, as we have already said, and knowing that it is a “ruged phone” is its design and its light weight.
But we also found some more things, almost all expected. In two small boxes Separately inside the main box are all the accessories. In one of them we find the electrical current connector, as well as the cable that will serve for that we can use our smartphone as an external battery to charge another device.
In the other box is the USB cable, which as we have commented is NOT USB type C. And a pleasant surprise that is increasingly in disuse ... Headphones! The POPTEL P10 screen
In the POPTEL P10 we find a screen with a 5,5 inch size. We have been able to test smartphones with larger screens. But if we compare this terminal with other rugged ones, this screen size, due to the smaller size of the phone, seems more appropriate. So while the POPTEL P10 still has room on its front panel to “stretch” its screen, the 5,5-inch is not bad.
We are facing a IPS LCD screen. And it is in the resolution where we can find one of the weak points of this device. The POPTEL P10 screen has 640 x 1280 HD resolution. The quality level is somewhat poor since almost any terminal in the mid-range offers Full HD resolution.
And if we look at the density of pixels per inch that it offers, the thing does not improve. With an average of 260 pixels per inch density the POPTEL P10 does not come out very well. As an example of comparison, we can refer to another rugged smartphone from the firm itself such as the POPTEL P9000 Max that we were lucky to test and that offered up to 441 dpi.
We look inside the POPTEL P10
It is time to tell you about what the POPTEL P10 offers us at the power level. To do this we look at your processor. For this POPTEL device choose MediaTek, specifically, the new processor MediaTek Helio P23. A processor that firms such as Blackview, Ulephone or Nomu have also used.
A processor octa-core with 4 x 2.0 GHz ARM Cortex A53 CPU plus 4 x 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex A53. Of which we can say that it offers a excellent performance with this smartphone. We have had no problems with multitasking, nor with any application or game. We have not experienced overheating, and we have not been "hung" at any time.
For graphics, the POPTEL P10 has a ARM Mali-G71 MP2. It is not that it is of low quality, only that the resolution offered by the screen does not give more than what it offers us. Undoubtedly a graphics card that could give more of itself to have a higher density and screen resolution.
With regards to RAM, we see how this device is well equipped with some 4 GB, something that at least duplicates what the first rugged ones on the market could offer. To complete the section, we have a capacity of 64GB storage. More than enough memory, and even more thanks to the possibility of expanding it using a micro SD card.
With such equipment it is normal for the POPTEL P 10 to flow wonderfully. We have felt a very satisfactory user experience. And the level of fluidity that it is capable of offering is really pleasant even with demanding use of the phone.
A camera that offers good results.
Although it seems that it is already mandatory to install a dual camera on new phones, this is not yet the case. There are still phones on the market capable of "surviving" with single rear lens. The POPTEL P10 is an example of this, and although its camera is nothing extraordinary, it is able to fully comply and offer good results.
The POPTEL firm has trusted Sony to have a sensor solvent and that it manages to keep up with the rest of the device. The chosen one is the Sony IMX135 Exmor RS, a sensor CMOS type, which has worked well on other smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy A5, some LG models, or the Sony Xperia Z, among many others have opted for this sensor. Which is accompanied by a single LED flash 2.2 Gso Lens with more power than expected.
In the section of the POPTEL P10 camera there is an aspect that has surprised us a lot, and unfortunately for the worse. The photo camera application is nefarious. We had not come across all the reviews that we have made in the last with such a simple camera application. The options it presents seem totally out of date.
Among the options offered by the camera we find photo or video ... and that's it! The green thing is that it does not look like a smartphone from 2.018. As "extra" we can use some pre-installed filters to give some color effect to our photos or videos.
Even so, although the options that the camera offers in terms of configurations are practically non-existent. The sensor with which the POPTEL P10 has he does not defend himself badly. And is able to offer good results in photos taken with autofocus. Here we see how, in addition, the definition level is quite good and colors that it throws are quite realistic.

In the case of the POPTEL P10, being a ruggedized one that stands out among the majority for being much thinner and lighter, it is normal that it has opted for a smaller battery. Specifically, we have a 3.600 mAh battery. A battery that is well below what we have seen in other off-road phones. But that compared to conventional smartphones is not bad at all.
