La OnePlus 8 series is already receiving a new software update since a few days ago. It is a maintenance firmware package that, as a main novelty, adds the latest Android security patch.
The update is currently being distributed via OTA, so you should already have it, in case you own the OnePlus 8 or 8 Pro. However, you may not have obtained it yet, as it may be spreading gradually, but it seems that already it is available to all units globally.
What does this update add for the OnePlus 8?
This, as we said, Increase system security with the August patch, which is the latest and newest for Android. The OTA also adds the typical system enhancements, so the interface and user experience is theoretically now smoother on both smartphones.
Of course, minor bug fixes are also not conspicuous by their absence, so if you are one of those users who have experienced a problem or bug, the update may have solved it. Hence, important bugs related to the Ambient display function, which have been reported by various users, are eliminated by this firmware package.
In question, the update comes as OxygenOS 10.5.13 for India and 10.5.12 for Europe. Enhanced shooting effects with the front camera are also briefly mentioned in the changelog, but not much detail has been given on this.
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro were launched in mid-April as the brand's flagships. In short, these feature curved AMOLED technology screens, come with the Snapdragon 865 and RAM and storage space options of up to 12GB and 256GB, respectively. They also feature 30W fast-charging batteries.
