Meizu's mBack is not going away despite the company's upcoming bezel-less phones

Physical access keys with integrated fingerprint readers were the authentication method of choice for many users before borderless displays became one of the top trends in the smartphone world. On various phones, these home keys were also multi-functional, like those found on several of the Meizu devices. The physical home keys on Meizu smartphones were among the most innovative as they integrated mBack technology, allowing users to navigate through the user interface and perform quick actions through the use of gestures on the key.

With a borderless display, there's no room for the physical home keys on the front panel, but still Meizu will not eliminate mBack technology according to what the company's CEO has revealed, Jack Wong, via the firm's community portal. It seems that the Meizu 16 will come with a very advanced version of mBack technology, but it will not be a Home key. In case you don't know, in the latest version of Flyme OS, the company already implemented Super mBack technology, which consists of on-screen gestures. Thanks to this feature, it is possible to quickly navigate through the user interface by using taps, long taps, and swipes. So, taking into account the statements of Jack Wong, there will be something groundbreaking regarding mBack technology about the upcoming Meizu 16 series.

The manufacturer's new lineup will be officially unveiled in August in at least two variants.. One will be equipped with the new mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 710, while the more powerful variant will have the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip running at a maximum frequency of 2.8GHz. Unlike other brands, Meizu won't embrace the notched design in favor of an 18:9 display, but bezels will still be very sparse. Also, according to several indications, there will be a fingerprint reader on the screen on board.
