Meizu fires employees and closes several stores in China

Meizu

Meizu is another smartphone manufacturer that doesn't seem to be doing as well in the market as anyone would think. Although the firm is not doing as badly - not even close - as HTC or SonyTwo companies that do not enjoy the same popularity in the market as they used to, have been laying off employees and closing stores in China, which is curious.

What was said was recently revealed as something somewhat surprising. The brand is not really doing too badly, but It seems that it is not reaping as much fruit as it seemed, so it has been seen to take these measures.

The report, citing the Meizu members, says that the company has laid off more than 30% of its workforce this year, so far, and already has only about XNUMX employees. Meizu also confirmed that its well-known systems engineer, Hong Hansheng, has left the Chinese company.

The Meizu 16 are here

On the other hand, Meizu, which was promoting itself as a competitor to Huawei and focused on expanding its presence offline, seems to be receding. The company, which had more than 2,700 offline stores at its peak in 2016, is now left with only 5 or 6 such stores in a province, which is concerning.

Everything indicates that Meizu needs a change of strategy, as it has not handled the car well in the curves, so to speak, and urgently, since, as things are going, it will soon be closing more stores, reducing staff and, therefore, reducing its presence in consumers.

The smartphone market is one of the most saturated today. It is wildly inhabited by an extensive range of brands - mostly Chinese - that are increasingly offering value for money in their competitive mobiles, thus causing, in proportion, each year the prices of the terminals go down. The main manufacturers, of course, have to be adapting to it, something that is not easy, and less if you have to offer better devices than those already on the table.
