According to the WSJ, the investigation into the explosions of the Note 7 are delaying the development of the Galaxy S8

Samsung

The prestigious Wall Street Journal yesterday published a report stating that Samsung could have made a big mistake by making the initial withdrawal of 2.5 million Samsung Galaxy Note 7 from the market due to the explosions produced by some of its terminals.

According to them, there was no complete evidence that the batteries produced by the Samsung SDI division were to blame for the Galaxy Note 7 explode, as stated in the announcement of the recall.

The problem could not be with the battery, but with the design

Note 7 burned

It looks like, Samsung executives put different models through various tests, including X-rays and saw that some batteries of the Galaxy Note 7 protruded slightly from the housing of the terminal. Models using ATL batteries, made in China, did not have this problem.

The problem is that el 30% of the initial units of the Galaxy Note 7 used ATL batteries so they assumed that there would be the problem. Big mistake since it seems that the problem does not come from the battery, as can be seen in the second wave of explosions that affected the replacement models.

All these new units used ATL batteries and the problem remained so it was clear that this was not the problem that caused the explosions of the Galaxy Note 7. Now it seems that it points to a defect in the circuit board or a software failure which controls how the battery interacts with other components. There is even talk of the possibility that the battery is wedged in too small a place.

The problem is that Samsung doesn't want to make any more mistakes And, above all, that their next flagship does not go through a similar controversy, which is why they are thoroughly reviewing the Note 7 in search of a failure and this has forced to delay the development of the Galaxy S8 for two weeks.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is expected to be presented within the framework of the MWC, so if the largest telephony fair will kick off on February 27, it is assumed that the Galaxy S8 would be presented on February 26. Although the manufacturer will have to put the batteries if he wants to get to MWC 2017 on time
