One of the novelties that the most advanced terminals incorporate is the now famous fingerprint reader. The main reason why the big manufacturers are including it in their smartphones is the increased security due to the insistence of the community. There have already been too many data theft scandals, and biometric security promises to be a (not too distant) way to protect all our information.
As it is still in development, there are not many applications for this sensor. The newest (but which has not yet reached the entire community) is the implementation of the famous payment system via smartphone. Android Pay has been pushing hard to get us to leave credit cards behind, and only relying on the ease of payment and increased security.
That said, and since many of you will already have a fingerprint reader, we are going to explain how make good use of it even if it is not fully extended. Thanks to an external application, you can use this biometric security to access your Gmail, Twitter, Facebook and other websites that require authentication.
LastPass and the fingerprint reader
The application that we are going to use to get the most out of the fingerprint reader is called «LastPass«. It is very easy to use and thanks to it you will enjoy greater security on your smartphone. Obviously, the first thing you will have to do is download and install it.
Once installed, you must go to Terminal settings and in the accessibility section activate the LastPass service. This is only to give development use privileges on the operating system. Now, launching the application and clicking on the icon '+', you will have to add the different profiles that you will use in the different web services.
When you have all the services added, you have to click on the three horizontal stripes menu and activate the options » Block LastPass automatically" Y "Use fingerprint reader to unlock«. Only with these simple steps can you use biometric security to access the services that you have previously indicated to the application.
