As we mentioned a few days ago, it is now possible update Samsung Galaxy Spica to Android 2.1 With which it gains many interesting things and completely changes the current face of Android. NOTE: Updated from Windows XP and with free mobile imported from France (I don't know if the latter will influence, and then I have updated because the update has already arrived in France ...)
Instructions:
0. Save what interests you (the internal memory will be formatted, losing apps, etc). If the contacts, etc., you have them synchronized with a Google account, then no problem. I recommend you make a list of the apps that you had installed.
1. Download and install New PC Studio 1.3 from the Samsung Mobile Spain website. I read that it is recommended to uninstall other versions and drivers if you already have them (it has not been my case).
2. Put the mobile in USB Debug mode so that it recognizes the device: Settings -Applications-Development -USB debugging.
3. Start PC Studio and connect the mobile.
4. After recognizing the mobile, click on "Updates" (perhaps I will notify you shortly after connecting that there is an update available).
5. We go to the device update tab. We select our device, GT-i5700.
6. Now it will check for update. Once found, you accept.
7. If you found it, then you can proceed with the installation. Follow the process and after a few steps (the download is very slow: S), you will have your mobile updated 😀
Problems I have encountered:
* Failure to install the update: It happened to me the first time, and it told me that it will use the recovery because probably the mobile would have been wrong. It was not necessary, because the mobile continued to work with the previous version. What I did was do a hard reset (factory restore) from the mobile and the update already worked.
* There is no network connection in NPS: This appears in New PC Studio when looking for updates for the mobile. It came out to me trying several times, the third time.
* MainNPS crash when starting New PC Studio: I reinstalled, and voilà.
* It does not notify me that there is a new update: Although the message does not appear, the important thing is that it appears in the update window.
Final notes:
* Version installed according to "About": 2.1-update1 (An upgraded or special version from Samsung?)
* Enjoying it a lot. What a difference from 1.5! 😉

In the end I got it, I looked on the Samsung Mobile page in France and I saw a version of PCStudio that was 1.4 instead of the 1.3 that there is in the Spanish (My terminal is free imported from France, with the Spanish I imagine it would not work ).

I have had this mobile with Yoigo for about 2 or 3 weeks, trying to update it every day in the normal way, and there is no way. I use PcStudio 1.3, and the mobile recognizes it but cannot find an update.
In the end I installed android 2.1 using Odin (there are several tutorials on the internet) and although at first I did not dare and wanted to wait, I am very glad I did. The mobile is much better in all aspects, it is amazing.
A note: just installed 2.1 gave me the impression that scrolling through the desks had a small delay, something that did not happen to me with 1.5, worse installing the Launcher Pro Beta, from the market, it goes much much better still, it I recommend 100%.
