One of the main features of Telegram are groups and channels, groups and channels with virtually no user limit. While WhatsApp does not currently offer channels where we can receive news or publications of what we like the most, Telegram has converted them in one of its main virtues, although not the only one.
Another of the functionalities that Telegram offers us, and that we cannot find in WhatsApp, is the possibility of silencing groups, silence them forever and not for a maximum year (an option that WhatsApp will add soon). When we get into a group or channel, many of us are the first thing we do is silence it to later assess whether it is worth following them.
However, there are users who, when joining groups, wait a few hours or days, to see if the activity of the group or channel is intense enough to be forced to silence it forever or at certain times of the day. In any case, if you have come this far to know how you can mute groups and channels in Telegram, below I show you the steps to follow:
- First of all, once we have opened Telegram it is address the group we want to silence.
- Within the group, click on the avatar that represents the group and go to Notifications and we deactivate the switch.
It is done, we do not have the option to mute the group temporarily For a few hours. This option can be found on the lock screen of our smartphone by clicking on a notification and indicating if we want to silence all the notifications of the application or only those of a certain group.
It would not be bad that in future updates allow groups to be silenced for a time previously established by the user and not with default options as WhatsApp offers us today.
