The big G just announce the new flagship feature of Google Maps and that allows us to choose a specific place among a group of people. That is, we can rate those places that a friend has suggested, to even be able to recommend another and thus, among all, choose one through our votes.
Quite a great feature for so choose between all a place in Google Maps and specify which will be the restaurant where we will go to dinner, the place to have a few drinks or the workshop to change the tires, having asked our friends for advice on the three most recommended in the area. A new function that is being rolled out regionally.
But why do I need this new Google Maps feature?
Sure you have onenumber of places on Google Maps saved as favorites in order to recommend your own list or return to it to decide where you will go for dinner or lunch. It was another of the star features of the maps app that was launched some time ago. The idea of Google is that you give more use to that list of favorites so that, when a friend shares their restaurant or cocktail bar, you can even share another so that everyone can decide where to go.
That is, between all of you you can deciding where to meet for a work event, the company lunch for Christmas or that disco where you can go have a few drinks and, incidentally, have a few dances. This function is very interesting to show those sites that maybe some of your friends are unaware of and thus, together, vote to decide which one we visit.
How to choose a place on Google Maps to vote for it
The idea is based on create a list of places, share them with a group and that participants can vote or add more suggestions. In other words, we are talking about a short list of places that we can now begin to see in the form of a floating button when searching for places on Google Maps.
We have two options to add a place to that list:
- Long press to drag it to the short list icon.
- When you see a place, you can add it to the short list with the given option.
Another of the most important functions of this short list is that it can be displayed in two views. One is the normal one and the other the map. Both allow us to add places, share the list and even rename it. In this way we can even better plan where to go thanks to that map view so that we know distances and we can get a better idea of the plan to be carried out.
When we have the list of sites, already only we will share the short list so that our friends or colleagues begin to give their votes. A link is generated with which anyone can participate from the web or from the Google Maps app itself. Best of all, even if the update is not present in your version of Google Maps, you can participate in the short list of sites to make a plan.

Another of its best points is that we will receive notifications of all changes and votes made by a friend or colleague. A new "Shares" tab has even been created in the "Your Places" list on Google Maps, so you can quickly head over to see how the ratings are going.
In short, a great novelty for Google Maps, such as parking, which when it is available, will surely will begin to be used to plan all those outings we do with friends, family and co-workers.
