Google plans to rename Android TV to Google TV

Google TV

We are facing a rumor, to make it clear, but we do have in our hand the information that Google plans to rename Android TV to Google TV. It is not the first time that the big G renames a service and we can approach that Google Home as one of the most recent changes.

This change of remove the Android brand of their products is not new and wants to bring them closer to Google which seems to have more pull according to the guys behind these decisions.

It all has to do with that Google's own statement in which it said that Android as an own brand it is not going anywhere. Some of those most notorious changes, and years ago, was to change the name of the app and video game store from Android Market to Google Play Store. It sounds weird to call it after the first name, but it has been with other changes.

Android Pay also became known as Google Pay. And we can even find a radical elimination by removing the Android brand in Android Messages to leave it as is without further ado. Android Wear went to Wear OS and so we can also go to a lot of apps like Allo, Duo and others in which they have even been left alone without any type of brand.

Google TV sounds more challenging and daring, although we will see if it is just a change of the name or if Google intends to take it to other places. But as we have said, for now it remains a rumor so loose that perhaps it is more like a probe balloon to see how it fits between public opinion and specialists in the field. A Google TV involves more things than an Android TV (which you already have support from NewPipe); the latter being as yet another arm that is embraced from the OS to other platforms or devices.
