Google continues to work so that one of its star applications has more and more functionalities. A few days ago we told you about the arrival of a dark mode to Google Camera and now it's time to talk about another functionality coming to GCam very soon to make life easier for us. Yes, the Mountain View-based firm is preparing a new upgrade that is closer than ever.
As usual, this new improvement in GCam will be available first for users of a Pixel device, although we will surely have a port that allows us, by installing the corresponding APK, to enjoy the latest version of Google Camera with this advantage. But what tool are we referring to?
Very soon you will be able to measure objects through the augmented reality of the GCam
Well, we are talking about a measurement mode through augmented reality. As you can see in this video that Google has hidden, the system is quite comfortable to use and will allow us to make measurements of any object in a much more comfortable way. Of course, for now it is not available. And, this new GCam tool has been discovered through the app code after the last update to add the dark mode to the Google camera in the Google Pixel.
In it, we can see that there is a new way, as you will see in the image that heads this article, called «Measure«. The problem? That this new service has the Google Measurement application, but since it is not available in the application store, we cannot use it. Yes, when trying to activate this mode, I get an error stating that the com.google.vr.apps.ornament.measure package is missing.
But we can rest assured that, from what it seems, this new functionality is going to be implemented very soon, so over the next few weeks we will be able to measure any nearby object in a much easier way through GCAM.
