The mythical Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is a tablet that was popular at the time, back in 2014. This device came back then with the long-forgotten Exynos 5420 processor chipset, a piece that consisted of a 28 nm node size and eight cores that were configured in as follows: 4x Cortex-A15 at 1.9 GHz & 4x Cortex-A7 at 1.3 GHz.
Reminiscent of 2014, Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 tablet as the first model in the flagship Galaxy Tab S tablet series in 2014. This terminal was presented in two model variants: one with Wi-Fi and the other with connectivity. 4G LTE. The former was powered by the aforementioned Exynos 5420 chipset, while the latter featured the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.
The 8.4-inch diagonal Galaxy Tab S was released with Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) OS and was later updated to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow). It has been more than 6 years since this product was launched and its software support ended years ago, but now the South Korean manufacturer has surprised us with a new software update for the same.
The WiFi variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with model number SM-T700 is now receiving a new update with firmware version T700XXU1CTK1 in Europe. This update release was first reported by GalaxyClub and since they don't have access to this old tablet, the changelog for this new version is unknown.
Also, you are not sure if this update will be available for other regions as well as the LTE variant. Anyway, if you still have this tablet somewhere in working order, try updating it.
This firmware package release by the company turns out to be a big surprise. We do not know why it is, and less if it has to do with a more extensive policy of updates of old and discontinued devices.
