Samsung introduced the Galaxy S20 series in February with important news not previously seen in previous terminals flagships of the brand such as the 120 Hz screen refresh rate. The firm has been criticized in a good way for this characteristic, although it represents a lower autonomy than what we see on devices with lower refresh rate screens.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 series has a screen that supports a maximum resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels (WQHD +). Of course, the 120 Hz mode is limited to a FHD + resolution, while the 60 Hz mode does support the aforementioned WQHD + resolution, in addition to also being compatible with the FHD + resolution. Nevertheless, The team of XDA-Developers has discovered an unofficial 96Hz mode which is located as the midpoint and does not consume as much battery as the 120 Hz one, although it does consume more than the 60 Hz one, of course. Be that as it may, it's a pleasing option, and here's how they discovered it.

As reported by the portal, if you run the command shell "Dumpsys display", you will find that the screen of the Galaxy S20 actually supports the following modes which are shown in the following image:

The geek team points out that you can see that there are various resolutions and refresh rates that are not accessible to the user, such as HD + resolution of 1,600 x 720 at 96 fps and 48 fps. However, even though these modes cannot be toggled through the phone's Settings, the fact that they appear in the code of the Galaxy S20 means that the phone supports these modes and as such we can force the Galaxy S20 to run on one of these.
By changing the value of Settings.System.peak_refresh_rate and Settings.System.min_refresh_rate At 48.0 or 96.0, you can set the refresh rate of the Galaxy S20 to one of these hidden values. Setting your phone to 96Hz will give you a slight increase in battery lifeas your screen won't update content as often, while also getting the benefits of having a high refresh rate on your screen - it will still look considerably smoother than 60Hz. However, it still won't work with WQHD + ( FHD + only), as that combination is not listed as one of the supported display modes.
Do it yourself using this simple application
XDA-Developers has the solution to not access those values manually. To save you the trouble of running commands from shell, a senior member of the site, known as satishtony, you have created a simple application that allows you to switch between 96Hz and 120Hz refresh rates. The app even adds two tiles in the Quick Settings panel to toggle between refresh rate modes.
