The Galaxy S20, Samsung's new flagship series, have finally been unveiled. All the details of its characteristics and technical specifications are no longer a secret or rumors, and we list them below along with all the information that the South Korean firm has revealed at Unpacked, the event where this powerful trio was launched.
These three high-performance terminals were presented in conjunction with the new Galaxy Buds+ and the Galaxy Z Flip, and will compete only with the best from other companies, not only for the Exynos 990, which is the processor with an integrated 5G modem that debuts in these mobile phones, but also for their cameras, designs and the water resistance they boast.
What does Samsung's new Galaxy S20 range offer us?
The first thing that we will highlight of this new generation is the appearance. Samsung has not wanted to distance itself much from what it offered with the Galaxy S10 series and Galaxy Note 10 in said segment. Instead, it has decided to go for screens with a hole for the selfie cameras, which is positioned at the top of the screen just like in the Galaxy Note 10. However, they contain slightly thicker frames, similar to the ones we see on the Galaxy S10. Even more, We could say that we are facing a fusion of the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10, as far as frontal aesthetics are concerned.
Now, if we focus on the rear panel of these new devices, we see that things change considerably. In the aforementioned mobiles we saw different configurations of different rear cameras, but with something in common: they were all aligned, either vertically or horizontally. In the Galaxy S20 we see rectangular camera housings or modules, which are responsible for keeping the photographic sensors that they boast of housed.

Galaxy S20, the smallest of the new flagship series

Not because it is the most modest variant that Samsung unveiled is it to be taken for granted that it comes with little to offer; quite the opposite. This standard model has a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED display with HDR6.2 + that is capable of producing splendid QuadHD + resolution and 563 dpi pixel density. In addition, the screen works at a refresh rate of 120 Hz, so it is possible to view games and multimedia content more fluidly, smoothly and better than in typical 60 Hz terminals, and it integrates the fingerprint reader underneath.
The processor that it equips inside is the new Exynos 990 chipset (Europe) or Snapdragon 865 (United States, China and the rest of the world), which natively supports support for 5G networks; This is also available in the Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Ultra, thus the story in this section is a bit repetitive. This SoC is paired with an 5 or 8 GB LPDDR12 RAM along with a 128 GB internal storage space. The device, for ROM expansion, supports a microSD card up to 1TB capacity. The battery it carries, on the other hand, is 4,000 mAh and of course it comes with support for fast and wireless charging.
Regarding the user interface, provides all the benefits that Android 10 can offer under the latest version of Samsung's One UI layer. In addition to this, the IP68 certificate protects it against water.
And what about the cameras? Well, this is where things get good too. Samsung has wanted to stand out with a 64 MP telephoto sensor (f / 2.0 - 0.8 µm), a 12 MP main shooter (f / 1.8 - 1.8 µm), a 12 MP wide-angle lens (f / 2.2 - 1.4 µm) for wide photos and a dedicated camera for magnification that offers a 3X hybrid optical zoom and 30X digital. To this we must add the 10 MP front camera that it is equipped with.
Galaxy S20 Plus: something more vitaminized

This terminal, as expected, relies on better qualities than those of the Galaxy S20, although it is inferior to the Galaxy S20 Ultra. The technology and nature of the screen it uses is the same as that of the panel of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy S10 Ultra, but it consists of a larger diagonal of 6.7 inches and its pixel density is 525 dpi. It also has the integrated fingerprint reader underneath it, another detail that also applies to the Ultra version.
Needless to say, the Exynos 990 / Snapdragon 865 is the one in charge of enhancing the device. This one is also paired with the same RAM and ROM configurations found on the standard Galaxy S20, but adds a 512GB variant of internal memory, which can also be expanded via a microSD up to 1TB. In turn, the battery it boasts amounts to 4,500 mAh and has compatibility with fast and wireless charging.
IP68 water resistance, interface and other aspects are repeated. Where we have new changes is in the camera department. The Galaxy S20 Plus has the same cameras as the Galaxy S20, but adds a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor, which significantly helps improve facial recognition and other functions. It also has the same 10 MP front camera as the Galaxy S20.

Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung's most powerful model, without a doubt. This greatly improves several of the specifications of its two younger brothers. In addition, it is the largest of all, having a 6.9-inch screen. Of course, the pixel density barely drops to 511 dpi, but this is something that practically cannot be perceived, being just as good.
In this model, the Exynos 990 / Snapdragon 865 processor has different settings for RAM and ROM. In question, we see that has a 5 or 12 GB LPDDR16 RAM; the latter gives it the title of the world's first smartphone with such capability. The internal storage space is given as 128 or 512 GB, respectively. This is also possible to expand it through a microSD up to 1 TB.
This device is much more distant from the other two on the subject of cameras, but in a good way, because the 64 MP main sensor is replaced by a 108 MP one (f / 2.0 - 0.8 µm). This is accompanied by a 48 MP telephoto (f / 2.2 - 1.4 µm), a magnification camera with 10X optical and 100X digital zoom, and a ToF sensor. It also has a 40 MP front shooter. It is worth noting that, like the other models, they can record in 8K resolution and have an extensive repertoire of camera functions.
Prices and availability
Samsung's Galaxy S20 series will go on sale in Spain and other markets from next March 13. The versions, prices and colors of each model are as follows:
