Facebook Messenger finally receives Material Design

Facebook Messenger

For a few months, Facebook Messenger has been receiving various updates that have been adding various Material Design features to the application. A renewed image in the interface that has taken its time but that has finally been officially launched today so that users can use their favorite app and it goes hand in hand with what is happening today on Android in the design language.

In these past months we have seen some obvious changes such as that floating blue action button that allows us to start new conversations or as in the last version the action bar was changed to blue. A few tweaks that show that Facebook does not want to be left behind in the race towards Material Design, the new design lines that were imposed less than two years ago by Google.

The floating FAB button with the "+" sign in the center, allows us to create a new chat. Before this button there was a blue bar at the bottom that offered the possibility to search for users and compose messages. Another novelty is the blue navigation bar at the top that has icons for chats, settings, calls and other options.

These developments have been carried out from the server side, so many of you may have had them for a while without realizing it. This official Material Design novelty comes from the management of multiple accounts and what will be the cards for the new year, which will bring about the introduction of advertising.

Messenger now has more than 800 million monthly users to reach one billion downloads on Android in June of last year. An app that has known how to adapt to the times.
