Ahead of the launch of the MatePad Pro, Huawei announced the MediaPad M6 series. This includes the 8.4-inch model, the 8.4-inch Turbo Edition and the 10.8-inch version. All three are powered by the Kirin 980 processor, which makes them flagship tablets.
When they launched, all three tablets ran EMUI 9.1 based on Android Pie out of the box. Yesterday, Huawei announced that an open beta version of EMUI 10 is now available for all three tablets. This version of EMUI is based on Android 10.
Huawei says that The open beta update brings an improvement in system performance and an improved AI assistant. You should also get a new UI and system-wide dark mode.
To get the beta update, you will need to go to the Huawei Club application and select EMUI Zone in the upper right corner. There should be an option to select "Beta Update".
The MediaPad M6 series has IPS LCD screens, the same 13 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera. While the 8.4-inch and 10.8-inch versions are available in 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB, the Turbo Edition comes in a single configuration: 6GB + 128GB.
The 10.8-inch model is also the only model with a fingerprint scanner and an audio jack. It also includes a larger 7,500 mAh battery capacity versus the 6100 mAh battery capacity of the 8.4-inch models.
The usual: We recommend having the respective tablet connected to a stable and high-speed Wi-Fi network to download and then install the new beta firmware package. It is also vitally important to have a good battery level to avoid any possible inconvenience during the installation process. Please note that the update should be rolling out gradually, so you may not have received it yet, in case you are a user of some of these models.
