From what we know from XDA Developers, phones without certification might forget to use Google Duo and Messages, two of the most installed apps and one of the best in terms of apps dedicated to communication between people.
From the code of those same apps two strings are collected that make it very clear Google's intention for uncertified mobiles, so its users would have to start looking for their lives to be able to enjoy the experience of video calls and SMS messaging.
The string of Google Messages is very clear:
On March 31, Messages, the Google app, would stop working on non-certified devices, including the same one where the application has been installed as well as the chain.
This problem would affect all Android phones without Google apps such as those of Huawei, mobile phones with ROMs from China, and other custom ROMs. This movement is accompanied by the deployment of RCS end-to-end encryption, and with which the company could not guarantee that a device without a certificate would not be compromised.
The Google Duo users will also encounter the message: «As you are using an uncertified device, Duo will terminate your account on this device soon. Download your video clips and call history soon.
Signal, the messaging app could be an important option al support the experience offered by both Google Duo and Messages; apart from that it is starting with that end-to-end encryption for all the messages, photos and video calls that we have of it.
If you have any of the mentioned phones, watch out for that March 31st, since Messages and Duo will stop working on your smartphone without a certificate.
