It is a very practical function since the person who writes the message can write it with the voice, and the person who receives it is in the form of a text, so it will be easier for her to read it and be able to reply in time.

How to dictate by voice and have WhatsApp transcribe to text
With an iPhone device, using voice dictation on WhatsApp is simple, To do this, all you have to do is open a conversation and click on the writing box as if you were going to write a text message. Once the keyboard opens, you must press on the key with the icon of a microphone, you will see it next to the space bar. When you click on it you will hear a tone that indicates that it is activated.
When you have clicked on it, it is time to start dictating your message so that the device recognizes your voice and starts transcribing the text. When writing the text, it is interesting that you know that you can also dictate the punctuation marks (point, comma, semicolon, full stop, etc). Once you have dictated the message, you only have to click on the send button or on the keyboard icon only in case you have to correct something in the message if the keyboard misinterpreted a word.
But if the microphone icon does not appear where we have indicated, then You must enter Settings-General-Keyboard and within that same screen, at the bottom press Activate Dictation. The device will notify you that voice dictation can be used without an internet connection in the language you have set on your device.
For Android you must follow practically the same steps. First you must open the keyboard by clicking on the box in a conversation and click on the microphone icon. Once you press you can start talking and the phone will recognize what you are saying. On Android you will also be able to dictate the punctuation marks for your message. Once you have written the entire message, click on the send button or on the keyboard icon if you want to manually correct a word that the phone has not recognized and is written incorrectly.
If the microphone icon does not appear on the keyboard, then tap on the gear icon to enter the extra keyboard options. If it doesn't appear here either, remember to check that the option is active in Settings-Language-Text to pronounce.
Troubleshoot voice dictation
If at any time you press on the microphone and a message appears that tells you "without permission to enable: voice dictation" we explain what you should do in that situation. This usually happens on Xiaomi devices, and to fix this error you must go to the Settings of your phone, tap on Applications, select Gboard and tap on the permissions. Make sure that the microphone permissions are activated, to do this click on this option and select allow or not allow.

A solution that you should try first is to restart the mobile, since it is something that is not done often and everything may work correctly once it is turned on. You should also bear in mind that the Google voice dictation box must be activated, this can be done directly from the keyboard, if you click on the three points-settings-write by voice. Another possible problem is that there is an incompatibility problem with the Google assistant. If you format the mobile or delete the cache you can reset the keyboard, although both options are extreme.
Alternative to WhatsApp voice dictation
Also, there is another way to dictate messages on WhatsApp on Android devices as well as on iOS. This alternative does not even require you to control the device with your hands. For this you will have to use the voice assistants, Ok Google on Android and Siri on iOS.
So if you want to send a message through WhatsApp using the voice through either of the two assistants, first of all you will have to activate the assistant through the command that requires it, once activated you will have to say «send a WhatsApp message a.…” and then you will have to say the contact to whom you want to send the message.
