Android Pay is now operational in Canada and Taiwan

Android Pay

The mobile payments platform created by Google as a great competitor to Apple Pay and another giant, Samsung Pay, continues its unstoppable expansion into new markets, and this time, it does so twice because Android Pay is now fully operational in Canada and Taiwan.

After Android Pay was launched in the United States in September 2015, and after its more recent launch in Belgium, rumors about its arrival in Canada (and also in Russia where, for the moment, it has not been released) emerged a couple of weeks ago and have now finally been confirmed.

Tech giant Google's mobile payment system has been officially launched in Canada and Taiwan within a single day - well, a few hours actually.

Android Pay made its debut in Canada yesterday, one year and nine months after it was launched in its American neighbor. Initially, Android Pay will be available to all users who have a credit or debit card issued by the banking entities ATB Financial, Banque Nationale, BMO, Canadian Tire Financial Services, CIBC, Desjardins, President's Choice Financial and Scotiabank. As in the United States and other countries, Google is expected to expand Android Pay's presence to more banks in the future.

The «digital wallet» of Android Pay works with Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards, as well as Interac debit cards, although Google has confirmed that "soon" it will also support American Express and Tangerine cards.

And as we said, Android Pay has also been officially launched in Taiwan, which is already available to customers of just two banks, CTBC and First Bank, although Google says it will roll out "soon" to Hua Nan Bank, Shin Kong Bank and EnTie Commercial Bank.

Google has taken advantage of the event scenario Computex 2017 in Taipei to perform these ads, the same place used by Samsun to show its controversial video about flexible screens.
