Android Nougat is already installed on 9.5% of Android devices

Android Nougat

Android Nougat is already installed in 9.5% of Android terminals on the market, according to the latest report published by Google on the Android developers blog.

The new statistics come from data collected by Google until last week, and mark the highest percentage achieved by the Nougat operating system since it was officially launched in September 2016.

Compared to last month, when Android Nougat occupied 7.1% of Android terminals, the new data represents a small increase compared to the growth experienced between April - May, when the installation rate of Android Nougat experienced an increase of 4.9%.

Most of this percentage is represented by devices with Android 7.0 Nougat, which occupies a total of 8.9% of Android terminals, leaving the rest for phones with Android 7.1, although this figure will likely increase as we get closer to the launch of Android Or, planned for the fall of this year.

Devices with Android Lollipop system continue to occupy a large number of devices, but this number will decrease over time, considering that Android 5.0 was installed on 8.7% of devices last month, while Android 5.1 was in 23.3% of terminals, although this month these figures have been reduced to 8.2 and 22.6%, respectively.

On the other hand, the adoption rate of Android 6.0 Marshmallow did not see any growth compared to last month, and remains at 3.2% of Android devices. Finally, it should be noted that Android Gingerbread is not fully extinct yet, although it has very little to disappear, considering that last month users with Gingerbread represented the 1% of total, while this month there are only 0.8% of devices still running this version of the operating system, an identical figure to the installation rate of Ice Cream Sandwich.

I think google relies on accesses to the play store to get the quota of android versions, so that 9% is not real either. When you change your mobile you enter the playstore more often than with an old one, even if it is to reinstall the apps you had on the old one.
Anyway, and even if it was a real figure, it is a ridiculous figure being so close the next version of android.
