Harley-Davidson becomes the first motorcycle manufacturer to announce Android Auto compatibility with Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle models thanks to a collaboration agreement with Google. The mythical Milwaukee motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1.903 da a step forward in innovation. Thanks to this curious agreement the most classic of the world of two wheels is combined with the latest Android technology for vehicles.
The owners of the new Harley-Davidson, Touring models for now, they will be able to access applications such as Google Maps or Google Assistant, which will give the option to use voice commands. The connection is made through the Boom! Box GTS, a wired connection that can currently connect to Android devices.
Harley Davidson and Android Auto, an unprecedented union
The service Android Auto has long been available in up to 36 countries among which is Spain. Even if currently Google Assistant for Android Auto is in full development for its expansion and it only serves Germany, Australia, Canada, South Korea, the United States, France, India, and the United Kingdom. So for now we have to wait until we can fully use these services.
The current Harley Davidson Touring have an entertainment system called Boom! Box GTS, currently not compatible with Android Auto. But it has been announced, that at the beginning of this summer, they will have a free update of their systems so that all models can have Android Auto. The update can be done through a software update via USB connection. Although the same authorized Harley Davidson dealers will also be able to perform these updates.
Android Auto will be an extra included in all Harley Davidson Touring models of 2021. And its incorporation will be expanded also to Harley Davidson Trike models. Since then, thanks to this evolution of the most mythical firm in motorcycling, the users of these two models, for now, they will be able to see on their screens the interface and functions of their smartphones. They will be able to install applications for meteorology, traffic, etc. Harley's own App It also helps drivers by offering planning functions, route recording, and the ability to search for dealerships, gas stations, hotels, and more.
