An announced failure: BlackBerry Priv will cost 799 euros in Europe

BlackBerry Priv

We have been hearing rumors about him for a long time. BlackBerry Priv price, a device that stands out as the first BlackBerry phone with Android. The phone looks very good and its design is really attractive, but its price is simply outrageous: the BlackBerry Priv will cost 799 euros.

And no, this time we are not talking about a new rumor about the new BlackBerry. It has been through the official BlackBerry blog where we have seen that the launch price of the BlackBerry Priv in Germany and the Netherlands will be 799 euros, so we can expect the same price in Spain.

BlackBerry is putting the final nails in its grave by selling the BlackBerry Priv at that price

BlackBerry Priv

While it is true that the BlackBerry Priv is a good device on paper, its price could be considered almost abusive. Who is going to spend 800 euros on a BlackBerry phone when you have other solutions with the same features and for 200 euros less?

Let's remember that a few months ago the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge dropped in price and is now around 699 euros. I'm talking about the Edge because both phones have a double curved panel, but I could give many other examples of phones with the same features and that cost less.

I have no idea what the team of BlackBerry to think that its new Android phone is going to curdle in the market at that price. I just don't get it. BlackBerry Priv seems like a very good phone and it was a golden opportunity for BlackBerry, a company that has been cornered by the rise of Android and iOS and that for years has lagged behind for not wanting to adopt the Google ecosystem in time.

Okay, you were wrong betting so fervently on Blackberry OS, but if you see that it does not work for you in sales and you decide to make the leap to Android showing a really incredible device, you cannot launch it at such a high price because very few people will buy you the BlackBerry Priv.

BlackBerry PRIV

What is the BlackBerry Priv going to sell? Of course, it is clear that it will attract many users. But not enough. I'm afraid to blackberry It will happen like HTC, which presents quite good phones but at outrageous prices that make former customers opt for other solutions.

And those users who had a BlackBerry and were excited about the arrival of BlackBerry Priv will surely prefer to wait a few months and buy the BlackBerry Priv when it costs 450 euros. Because there is something that I am very clear about: in a few months BlackBerry will significantly lower the price of its new flagship phone.

I am sure that in a few months and after resounding bump in sales to be given the BlackBerry team will reduce the price of the BlackBerry Priv to get better sales of your phone. If you are not going to eat a stock of phones that is quite interesting.

I hope I'm wrong because the arrival of BlackBerry to the Android universe is a breath of fresh air for a corseted sector with such identical designs. Too bad BlackBerry was completely wrong with the price of its BlackBerry Priv.

What do you think? Do you think that BlackBerry is right with the price of BlackBerry Priv and will sell their product well or have they really been wrong and the BlackBerry Priv is doomed to failure?

Totally agree ... an excessive price for a "new" terminal, which has to prove everything, and cannot compete with the social value of the iPhone or the wealth of Android in a variety of devices, no matter how much keyboard it has.

I was looking forward to buying this phone, because I am passionate about the physical keyboard, I knew it would be expensive, about € 500, and I was thinking of spending that at most, but 800 €€€ are we crazy? when I tell someone I have bought a blackberry for € 800 possibly they will murder me xD ... Put the batteries and for 400 or 500 euros I would sell a lot. Lucky

Compare with the S6 EDGE and Iphone 6s but be impartial, Priv is a device with many advantages in relation to other high-end devices that is why it is expensive because it costs to manufacture and offers a lot from security to a good Android experience with specific applications such as HUB and the physical keyboard with multiple touch functions in addition to its predictive virtual keyboard, superior to the traditional Android keyboard.

Let's see if selling to companies at that "Price" saves Blackberry from dying in absolute oblivion. Here the key word is precisely "Price". Whoever wrote the article must have mentioned "Price" a few more times.

To begin with, BlackBerry is not going to die, who in their right mind can even believe that when they have billions in Cash and other business divisions where their technology is used even by Apple and Google in their respective CarPlay and Android Auto.

BlackBerry is a leader in infotainment systems, Ford left Microsoft to opt for BlackBerry technology for its Sync 3 system and not only that, this technology is in multiple car brands and in more than 60 million units!

      What uncle

Good luck with that way of thinking

      regards

Surely you are happy to know that this company is doing so well financially and possibly you applaud the exorbitant price at which they launched that cell phone.

        What a nephew

Good luck with that way of thinking

        regards

The price of the BlackBerry PRIV is expensive for me. But it would also seem expensive to me if its price were € 499 or € 299 ...

Still, under the circumstances, I would buy it with my eyes closed.

What is a fact is that today there is nothing like it in the market, neither for that price nor for any other.

I recommend it. If you can afford it, buy it! And if you can't, you screw up. Like me.

«The last nails from his grave ...» ?? You don't strike me as serious at all, very unfair and more ignorant than you are supposed to.

Not making mobile phones is not the end of the world, nor will it be the end of BlackBerry. Nor was it the end of Siemens, or Nokia. And being stubborn in following the principles of a company (such as the blessed physical keyboard) can end up giving many joys, such as those that the Surface ended up giving to Microsoft, about which it was written hundreds of times criticizing it (also for its excessive price) and now it is the device imitated by the greats.

Fight, #BlackBerry and thank you for making what we really need, but no one dares to do. And put the price you want to your mobiles.

    1.    Saul melo said

David, I agree with you but Siemens was never a traditional cell phone manufacturer, Nokia was, but it entered the world of smartphones very late. On the other hand, BlackBerry was and for me still is a smartphone symbol. If it stops manufacturing samartphone it will not be of course the end of that company, just as it was not the end of Nokia but it will give me great sorrow. BB10 is a fantastic operating system and much more secure than Android, but it has no strength in the market, I think it was a departure for BlackBerry to launch Android and it is not a simple smartphone and it has many differentials in relation to competition even for the king for Android: Samsung. It is expensive because it is worth what it offers. Hopefully it comes out in the BB10 version,

      1.    David Valuja Framinan said

Yes, hopefully. I would like to see a BlackBerry PRIV powered by BB10. But I would also like to see an evolution of the Z10

I have always been a BB user.

THESE PEOPLE HAVE MADE A MARKET STUDY, SERIOUSLY NO, IF THEY WANT TO EAT THE MOBILE PHONE MARKET, THEY MAKE A BRUTAL LAUNCH, AND OF COURSE THEY PUT IT UP FOR SALE ABOUT THE 450 AND INSURANCE THAT RENEW FROM THE DARKNESS, I THINK THAT BEFORE LEAVING WITH A FINAL PRICE, SEE LIKE THIS THE PANORAMA AT THE ECONOMIC LEVEL, THAT THEY SEE THE PRICE OF COMPETITORS AND THEN MAKE THE LAUNCH, BUT THEM, I THOUGHT TO BUY IT, AND AS SOMEONE COMMENTS, THEY ARE GOING TO EAT AN AWESOME STOK, EYE THE EUROPEAN ECONOMY IS STILL SUFFERING, I BELIEVE THAT THESE CANADIANS HAVE NOT PERFORMED ANY MARKET STUDY OR ANALYZE THE SALES OF THEIR COMPETITORS.

Perhaps the blackberry priv the terminal that is going to bring a lot of profit to the Rime company, but the price it has set - compared to other terminals - is not going to sing the song you like. € 800 is an exaggerated price.
Viy to wait until the price is reasonable. € 450 seems fine.

I'm going to have to leave this page, I think there is a lot of millionaires on it. Do not tell me that the happy BlackBerry PRIV, is not excessively expensive, I think that everyone will wait for the price to drop, but it may be that in the meantime, something similar will come out and then ………………

I hated the blackberry and I really liked the nokia and the lg but they came with this fashion of the samsung which is a good phone but people stayed there with that and the iphone, then nothing else, they forgot about greats like motorola and blackberry that they launched Good smartphones, obviously they do not fit with current fashion, but in security and in truly useful and practical applications, nobody reaches the blackberry, it is a real machine, for security and many other characteristics it is a magnificent creation that went out of style for reasons Not very clear like the Nokia, the "boom of the moment" will also happen the same, Samsung did relatively well but brands like Huawei and the like are on its heels, it is a matter of time to see who will be the new face of the best-selling smartphones, I was sorry but I heard the same from Motorola, if it does not go back in sales it will change its name or disappear, absorbed by Lenovo company.
