We have already told you about the Alcatel A5 LED, a device that stands out for its curious rear notification panel. Now it's the turn of the Alcatel A3, a phone that will become part of the entry-mid-range range and that has some very interesting surprises.

I had the opportunity to test it at MWC 2017 so now I bring you my first impressions with this Alcatel A3.

A simple phone in terms of design

The Alcatel A3 is an entry-mid-range phone, we are not talking about a great device. And as expected, its design is very normal. There is nothing remarkable in this regard, a very conventional phone.

Its body made of polycarbonate feels good in the hand and is pleasant to the touch. Note that the frame that surrounds the terminal is made of aluminum, giving the Alcatel A3 a slightly more premium look.

The volume control keys and on and off the terminal offers a more than correct route and sufficient resistance. That said, a correct design for a terminal in this range.

Technical characteristics of the Alcatel A3

We are going to talk about the hardware that this Alcatel A3 mounts. In this case we find a screen formed by a panel with a diagonal of 5 inches that achieves HD resolution. As you may have seen in our first video impressions, the Alcatel A3 screen performs quite well, offering vivid and sharp colors and a more than sufficient viewing angle.

And here we go into a detail I liked a lot and it is the front speaker that has this Alcatel A3. There are really two speakers, located at the top and bottom of the phone and offering a fairly decent sound quality, inviting you to enjoy multimedia content.

Continuing with the rest of the features, MediaTek has been in charge of bringing this phone to life with one of its best-known solutions. I'm talking about the SoC MTK 6737 quad-core which, along with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, complete a very limited hardware.

I have been testing the phone and I have not suffered any kind of LAG or stoppage during its use, the phone moved fluidly through the different windows, but I already tell you that you will not be able to play too cutting-edge games on the Alcatel A3 since those applications that require a large graphic load will undoubtedly drown this phone.

I have already told you that it was an entry-mid range, so we could not expect excessively buoyant hardware. Although Alcatel has a surprise: the 13 megapixel main camera with which the A3 has and that looks really good. I did some tests on the booth and the camera worked really well.

To this we must add a 5 megapixel front camera with flash for taking selfies or self portraits in low light conditions. Another noteworthy detail is the fact that the Alcatel A3 has a fingerprint sensor. I didn't get a chance to test its functionality, but the fact that it comes with a biometric sensor is a plus.

Finally we have a battery of 2.460 mAh, more than enough to support the full weight of this phone's hardware. The big but? That the Alcatel A3 works with Android 6.0 M, when it should have already arrived with the latest version of Google's operating system.

There are still two months until May, when the Alcatel A3 on the market at a price of 159 euros. Hopefully during this time to prepare an update to Android 7.0 Nougat because it can be a factor to take into account. More if we take into account that for that price range we have very interesting solutions, such as the Mogo G4, and that they do arrive with Android 7.0.

Interesting! For an entry-mid-range terminal, it has details that make it stand out, such as the 13mpx main camera or the fingerprint reader. Also, it has a nice design, I like it.
