This is how the Samsung Galaxy A80 camera mechanism works

Galaxy A80

A few days ago, we showed you the first official announcement video of the Galaxy A80, a terminal that is already available in Spain and that represents an important leap in terms of design. The Galaxy A80 integrates a rear camera system that when activated the mechanism is located on the front of the device.

This rotating camera system allows Samsung offer a terminal where the entire front is a screen, without any type of notch, hole in the screen or periscope. If you are curious to see how the mechanism of this system is, below we show you a video where we can see it.

Ice Universe has posted a video on Twitter where we can see the complicated system that the Galaxy A80 uses, with a single engine, to be able to slide the camera from the back to the front, thus becoming the first terminal that allows us to use the same camera for both selfies and photographs.

This video, which was initially posted on Weibo, shows us how the motor first lifts the slider out of the housing and then keep pushing it to rotate the camera, a mechanism quite similar to the one that we can find in other terminals such as the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Samsung has incorporated a failsafe mechanism in the event of a breakdown. The chamber rotates even if pressure is only exerted on one side. This has always been one of the great buts to this type of mechanism, mechanisms that with use can stop working. Samsung has wanted to heal itself in health with this fail-safe system.

So far this year, Samsung is putting all the meat on the spit and it is directly facing both Xiaomi and Huawei in the medium and upper-middle range, with terminals that offer us a very high design and performance at a very reasonable price.
