Exynos processors are those that we usually see uniquely and exclusively in many of Samsung's smartphones. These compete head-to-head with Qualcomm's Snapdragon, but not very effectively, and this is something that is highly reflected in user preference.
The superiority of Qualcomm's Snapdragon SoCs is so great, in terms of performance and other aspects, that an initiative undertaken by many users demands that the South Korean company stop using its Exynos models in its flagships and lower-performance mobiles.
In question, the petition was presented in Change.org and seeks to attract the attention of Samsung to comply with it. It states that phones with Exynos mobile platforms are slower and have worse battery life than those with a Snapdragon. On the other hand, the camera sensors are also said to be worse than what you get with the Qualcomm version. In addition, it is claimed that Exynos devices heat up and accelerate faster.
Normally, this wouldn't have been a problem if both chipsets were on par. Instead, Snapdragon processors tend to be more powerful than Samsung's Exyno. Using the latest Snapdragon 865 and Exynos 990 as benchmarks, the Snapdragon 865 includes Cortex-A77 cores, which are said to provide up to a 20% increase in performance, compared to the Cortex A76 found in the Exynos 990 chipset. SD865 chipset also features an Adreno 650 GPU that outperforms the Mali G77 GPU that is on board the Exynos flagship SoC.
With respect to Samsung's flagship models, let's remember that the South Korean has been used, for several past generations, to launch its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note models in Snapdragon and Exynos versions. North America always receives the variant with Snapdragon chipsets, while China and Europe get the Exynos versions ... from there we can get an idea of where most of the consumers who are driving the request come from.
