The Oculus Rift has opened a market forgotten for years by the industry. Samsung has wanted to jump on the bandwagon with its Samsung Gear VR, which It left a great taste in our mouth when we tried them, using technology from the Oculus team. And now it is the turn of Zeiss who prepares his own virtual reality glasses: the Zeiss VR One.

Many of you will know Zeiss, but for those of you who do not know who they are, tell you that it is one of the leading companies in terms of lens manufacturing. To give you an idea, the high-end Lumia terminals integrate optics from this manufacturer that now he wants to try his luck in the virtual reality market.

Zeiss VR One virtual reality glasses will cost less than 100 euros

Like Samsung glasses, the Zeiss VR One does not have a built-in screen, but rather requires a smartphone to operate its virtual reality glasses. Zeiss currently offers supports for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 6, although they will soon launch new supports for other smartphones, since the Zeiss VR One are compatible with screens between 4.7 and 5.2 inches.

Along with the glasses will come some multimedia applications compatible with Android and iOS that will allow you to view movies, photos, access Google Street View in 3D or take advantage of some of the functionalities of augmented reality.

The Zeiss VR One glasses will soon hit the market at a price of 99.90 dollars, that with fees and others will reach Spain at 99.99 euros. If you want a support compatible with your smartphone, it will cost another 9.90 euros. The first units of these glasses are expected to arrive before Christmas.

Now it's time for indie developers to get their act together and start creating applications for these types of devices. I see a lot of future in virtual reality, the possibilities are amazing, but if there are no applications available for this type of technology, the usual thing will happen: fad and a new gadget that will gather dust on a shelf until the end of its days.

«… The only thing I don't like about its design is the fact that the terminal is on the side of the device. I think that in this way the size of the device is unnecessarily increased, making the Zeiss VR One a somewhat bulky gadget ... »
