Although Google's new backup and synchronization application was initially launched on June 28, some of its improvements suffered a late delay. Luckily, soon after, those improvements are officially available.
From this moment, all users of Mac computers and PCs who also make use of tools such as Google Drive or Google Photos, will be able to make backup copies of your files and data also in the Google cloud thanks to the new Backup and Synchronization app.
In early June, the search giant unveiled a new backup and sync application for Mac and PC that would replace the old Google Drive client. At the same time, the company also announced a Google Photos desktop tool that makes it easy to have all our photos and videos synced with our laptops and desktops as well.
Basically the new tool is Google's answer to iCloud, and let users can choose which folders they want to backup and keep in sync in order to ensure that any changes they make to them will be available on all platforms (iOS and Android tablets and smartphones, on the web, etc.).

Once the app is downloaded and installed, all you have to do is sign in with your Google account and specify what you want to back up to the Google cloudWhether it's documents, music, photos or videos. Of course, remember that only the first 15 GB of storage are free, so once you have passed, you will have to get a higher plan.
At the enterprise level, the old Drive uploader will continue to work, however Google plans to launch a product similar to the current one called Drive File Stream sometime this year.
