Xiaomi Mi 11: Analysis, characteristics and camera test

The Asian firm continues to work hard to offer terminals of all types, for something Xiaomi it does not stop in its constant launches that almost make us lose ourselves in this sea of terminals. On this occasion, as you can see, we are going to focus at least on the most striking of the latest "high-end" of the brand.

We have on the table the new Xiaomi Mi 11, a "top" device that comes to compete with the best on the market, will it be worth it? Discover with us what are its advantages and of course what are its defects so that you can correctly consider your purchase.

Materials and design

This Xiaomi Mi 11 surprises mainly because of the curves, we are not going to deny it. If Samsung popularized the lateral curves that Huawei later also pointed to, now they have been crowned including curvatures at all its ends, two much more pronounced on the sides, and two others much more reduced in its upper and lower part. Matter of taste, although I personally prefer smooth screens, it is true that the visual touch is quite pleasant, directly proportional to the terminal resistance.

  • Size: 164.3 x 74.6 x 8.06
  • Weight: 169 grams

At the rear there is a very graceful glass with quite a few curves, where that surprisingly large three-camera module clearly predominates. At least the metal edge helps to hold the terminal, which without a cover is really scary. That is surprising because of its lightness, quite a few grams below some direct rivals Samsung Galaxy S21 or Huawei P40 Pro. In the hand it feels premium and that is how we want to transfer it to you. If it has convinced you, you can always buy it at the best price on Amazon.

Technical characteristics

Xiaomi could not skimp on this terminal, and it has been. Releasing the Qualcomm Sanpdragon 888 with more than proven power and performance. For this, it will be accompanied by 8GB of RAM in the version that we have tested. This has given us results in Geekbench of 1.127 / 3.754, above the Galaxy S21 Ultra and OnePlus 8 Pro.

I think it is quite evident that at the level of power and performance we are going to lack absolutely nothing. We must remember that the 5G X60 modem is fully integrated into the processor in order to save as much battery as possible and that it is built on a 5nm architecture. The performance has been good in the tests, both with the usual tasks and demanding something more at the time of the games, yes, we have perhaps noticed excessive temperature in the back while playing, nothing worrisome.

Multimedia section

Mount Xiaomi on your Mi 11 a panel 6,81-inch AMOLED which includes a resolution 3200 x 1440 QHD +, generally known as 2K. This panel will have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, yes, Xiaomi specifies that they will be "adaptive", so the result varies depending on the needs of the device, although we honestly have not noticed that differentiation in daily use. It has a ratio of 20: 9 and a density of pixels per inch of 515. The panel is well adjusted, with a bit cold whites that we could adjust in the settings and colors that do not saturate excessively. The automatic brightness has given us some other independent adjustment problem, but we enjoy 1.500 nits that make it look good outdoors and a contrast of 5.000.000: 1 quite nice.

  • Use of the front: 91,4%

The hole on the screen this time stays somewhat to the left, it could have been hurried more, but it is not annoying. As for the sound, we have stereo certification, however, despite the attempt, the quality is somewhat flat, although the maximum volume of 83db is more than enough. Audio quality is still a pending task at Xiaomi.

Camera test

In standard size automatic photos we find a good defense in the expected conditions, although the automatic mode sometimes falls into bad contrast. We do find that colors are quite realistic and the automatic HDR will make things much easier for us. The Night Mode in its case offers good results and the photograph in the 108 MP format shows its teeth, especially when we enlarge the photograph.

The Wide Angle It has been well below the level of the main camera, especially when we put it in front of a strong contrast, saturating the colors more and noise appearing there. At night the result is as expected, but quite good considering the characteristics.

Portrait Mode still has a lot of work to do, the excess of software and the fact that it has serious problems when photographing things that are not people can put us something uphill, without a doubt the worst mode of those analyzed. Not so with photography in a closer format, where we have obtained especially good results, although here we usually require more light.

Finally, the front camera offers good detail and contrast, although deactivating the excessive "beauty mode" still seems mandatory. It is good to activate the HDR mode as the camera may have a problem with the lights, even if this slows down the shot.

Finally, the video stands out for its good detail and good stabilization, fluently and naturally correcting tremors, this aspect has surprised us, yes, always with the main camera. Obviously at night noise and problems appear, but it still fights well against the lights and maintains the detail.

Autonomy and user experience

The 120Hz slightly affects the autonomy, but the 4.600 mAh in principle defend themselves well. Supports 55W fast charging, 50W for wireless charging and 10W for reverse charging. TWe have the advantage that the charger is included and as a gift we take a cover (usual). About a day of use with the intermediate configuration, yes the battery difference between 60Hz and 120Hz is brutal.

The full charge will take us a little over 1h, although in about 25 minutes we have managed to go from 0% to 50%. Our overall experience with the terminal has been good, although the battery suffers from the added features and this leaves it one step behind the higher end in this regard. If you liked it, you can buy it from 749 in its blue and black versions on Amazon.
