With the new update of WhatsApp what you have is possible read in the title. How? Very simple: using the code that Facebook use in the thumbnails of your social network when pasting a link.
The WhatsApp preview system uses the icons that the websites have defined so that they appear in the Facebook preview. Don't worry, getting this icon to appear is very simple.
This is what you have to do:
- Edit the source code of your page and, within the tags.
<head></head>
Where you should have the metatags specified, include the following line:
<meta property="og:image" content="http://direccion.de.tu.imagen.png"/>
- Replaces
by the web address of where you have hosted the logo you want to appear. Facebook recommends that it be 200 × 200 px in size.
- Go to Facebook developer tool and enter your url to check that everything is correct (in this way, Facebook also updates the information on your website).
Clever. Now if someone sends your url (or if you do it yourself) to any contact who has the most up-to-date version of the Android app, it will show the icon you have chosen.
PD: For this to work, we remember that whoever sees the URL must be using the latest version of WhatsApp on Android. If not, the address will look as usual, without an associated icon. For now, we have no news that they will implement it on other operating systems.
