How to update Samsung Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 Official manually

A few days ago we informed you that the Samsung Galaxy S5, model SM-G900F, I was already receiving via OTA its corresponding dose of Android 5.0 Lollipop starting in Poland. Well now this original firmware Android 5.0 implemented by Samsung for the SM-G900F, you can manually flash it on your Samsung Galaxy S5 to update it as soon as possible to this latest and long-awaited version of Android completely renewed.

Next I will explain step by step the flashing method of this latest official Android 5.0 Lollipop firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S5 model SM-G900F, as well as sharing all the necessary tools and files to achieve it easily and in less than thirty minutes.

The first of all is to mention that this method of update to Android 5.0 Lollipop for the Samsung Galaxy S5, being an official firmware, it will not increase the flash count. Also remind them that This official Samsung firmware is only valid for the SM-G900F model only and exclusively. Do not try to update models other than the Samsung Galaxy S5 as you could brick the terminal and be left with a beautiful and very expensive paperweight.

Files needed to update the Samsung Galaxy S5 model SM-G900F to Android 5.0 Official

Before starting to download the necessary files to be able to manually update your Samsung Galaxy S5 model SM-G900F to Android 5.0 Lollipop, you will have to take into account that you are going to need have the official Samsung drivers installed. From this same link you can get them officially by installing Samsung Kies on your personal computer.

Once installed Choose and synchronized our Samsung Galaxy S5 for the first time, it would be convenient make a backup of all our data and applications, since in the process of updating to Android 5.0 Lollipop we are going to lose them all.

The files to download are the following:

Once both compressed files in ZIP format have been downloaded we unzip them on the desktop of our Windows and we are going to proceed with the flashing method of the official Samsung Android 5.0 Firmware.

Manual update method from Samsung Galaxy S5 to Android 5.0 Official Lollipop

The images used here to illustrate the process of Samsung Galaxy S5 update to Android 5.0 Lollipop They are purely indicative so that you can see the process to follow and do not correspond to the images of the process itself on the Samsung Galaxy S5.

The first of all will be enable development options on our Samsung Galaxy S5 and activate the USB debugging:

Before starting the Flashing process of the original firmware Android 5.0 Lollipop from Samsung, we will have to have the device charged up to 100 x 100 to avoid possible problems due to lack of battery.

We turn off the Samsung Galaxy S5 completely and turn it on again but keeping the buttons pressed volume down + home + Power until the warning screen appears where we will press the button Power.

Now we leave the Samsung Galaxy S5 aside for a little while and go to the Odin executable, the file odin.exe and we run as administrators hovering over it and clicking the right mouse button.

Next click on the AP button and we navigate to the file PDA of the firmware previously downloaded and that we unzip on our Windows desktop.

We must check that the box Odin's RE-Partition is not selected, I repeat, RE PARTITION should not be checked.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3, official update to Android Kit Kat 4.4.2

Now all you have to do is connect the Samsung Galaxy S5 model SM-G900F to the personal computer where we are running Odin, wait for the program to detect our mobile, for this we will see in the upper left corner the word COM followed by a number under the yellow background, and click on the button START and wait patiently for the process to finish.

It goes without saying that during the firmware flashing time, we should not disconnect the terminal under any circumstances, as we will not let our Windows enter repose, hibernation o suspension, much less let it reboot to install updates.

The flashing process will be over when Odin returns the word to us in the upper left corner PASS, at which time the mobile will be restarted and we will be able to enjoy Samsung's original Android 5.0 on the Samsung Galaxy S5 model SM-G900F.

Do not believe the Spring company is a hidden robbery, per month they are charging me 750. dollars, for 4 lines, that they told me you only had to pay a maximum of 80 for a cell phone. Dollars for four is 360. Dollars of 750 minus 360 how much is the difference

Good Francisco, after installing the update, which by the way can no longer be downloaded from the link. Do you have to re-root the mobile?

Good afternoon, I hope someone can help me I have this device and as soon as the first version of android 5.0 came out, I installed it step by step as all these tutorials say with odin and it is not the first time that I do it I have done it with the s3 with s4 active and with this s5 since I buy it several times. the problem is that with these last 2 updates G900FXXU1BNL7 and G900FXXU1BNL9 I have been having a problem, the equipment restarts without stopping I cannot do anything I did factory restore and nothing just started to configure it restarted. any suggestions?

The same thing happened to me, I took it, I put it from the factory from the android bios and I put it again and even so when I had everything configured it would restart again ... why? I have no idea, I only know that I did a third one and it still hasn't given me any problem, even so I called Samsung technical assistance to get a solution and what they told me was that the version I installed was not the official thing That is not true because I got the update available message, I study computer science and they keep insisting that not when I had a relative of mine who has seen it perfectly, and tells me to take it to the nearest point of technical assistance to That they look at it and the Samsung operator told me that I have to go there and if it is possible that they take it to me for repair so they can see what happens, and above all I have to stay more than a week without a phone because they have done an update they haven't even tried. Come on, the attention they give you about the break that they have caused you on the terminal is rubbish, I think this is a shame. They still haven't given me a solution and I want to be compensated for the data loss caused by the new data update.
Greetings and I hope that the same thing that happened to me does not happen to you ..!

I am another victim of the terrible Samsung update service; I got the pending update message on the mobile (S5) and after it auto-updated, following ALL the recommendations at face value… .the terminal constantly restarts every 5 seconds. After seeing your experience, I chose to do the same and install the firmware directly from Bios ... no luck, in the end it seems that I have found the key; LOSE ALL THE INFORMATION ... if you try to restore the old settings that I had saved in my Google account, the same thing continues to happen. The only way it works is to install the firmware corresponding to the model (mine SM-G3F) through bios (Kies900 or Odin) and reinstall everything by pedal….
My cell phone was pristine and virgin (without flashing or anything like that). I will never update anything again until many months have passed ... and previously I will consult the internet to see previous incidents. To top it all this happened to me while traveling abroad
These types of tasks are taken into account when choosing one terminal or another when it is time to renew them ...
        Goodbye Samsung….

Hi, I don't know if it's an error or that the APPs are not yet suitable for android 5.0, which in some cases I get that it doesn't respond 1. FACEBOOK v. 2.0 and the last one the rooting was removed and in most of the games the same thing happens, the whaton stays loading but does nothing. of the rest the system works perfect.

Hi .. I'm Jorge from Argentina, they brought me an S5 sm-G900F but with the Android version in English, how can I convert it to Spanish? I don't lose the Unlock?
They gave me the information to download it from Sammobile, I entered, look for the model but I see that there are many versions and I am drowning in a glass of water.
If you can help me I will be very grateful, so that I do not get a nice paper press.

The best thing is that you take it to a specialized place that I suppose that if they do it wrong and it suffers damage they will put it on you again, if you do not investigate on the subject or look for videos for your tutorials. A hug!

      1.    George said

If a little obvious the answer heh heh. . But if I am going to try with patience. To study the issue and solve it myself .. I have been a computer scientist for many years but I never dared to get my hand on the rest of the technology and it is time to start, otherwise the world passes me by . Thanks a lot
