The microblogging social network Twitter continues to implement new features and improvements aimed not only so that users can enjoy a better user experience but also to fight the so-called "trolls" and, in general, dealing with users who prefer to spend their time annoying others rather than dedicating it to much more productive things.
After a profound renovation of its interface and having announced the live coverage of major musical, sporting and informational events such as Wimbledon, Twitter has begun to roll out a new update that multiplies the options to silence users in a clear attempt to stop the call "Hate speech".
Last May, Twitter implemented a series of filters in the privacy settings thanks to which users could silence certain users. The idea is to stop hate speech, that is, that the users themselves silence those others who promote hatred, violence, xenophobia, racism, terrorism, homophobia, etc.
Now, just a couple of months later, Twitter launches a new update that expands these filters and gives us a more control to mute notifications from certain users. Thus, the new filters are as follows:
- Profiles you don't follow
- Profiles that don't follow you
- Profiles that are new
- Profiles that have a default photo
- Profiles that do not have their email confirmed
- Profiles that do not have their phone number confirmed
Users we can activate or deactivate all these filters or just some of them by simply pressing the slider next to each of them. To do this, you simply have to access the Notifications section within the Configuration settings and select "Advanced Filters".
At the moment, Twitter has not provided more details on how these filters work (for example, how long is an account considered new) in order, he says, to prevent the smartest trolls from being able to circumvent these measures easily.
